I liked this book. I felt like singing the song Poor Unfortunate Souls though while reading this book. I rated this book a 3 out of 5 stars.

2✨ I really struggled with this one because it was less about Ursula and more about the story that connects this series. It took me a long time to want to finish it. The back story of Ursula was interesting. However, besides her anger that is all that was really explored. I feel more prepared for the rest of the series with the work for the series in this book at least.
The third installment in Disney‘s Villains series centers around Ursula. While this one seems like the most closely aligned to the original animated film with lines of dialogue and lyrics matching exactly with my memory, it doesn‘t really delve very deeply into Ursula‘s backstory as much as I had hoped. It also carries on more from the second book in the series than I expected, too. The ending makes way for my favorite villain‘s story- Malificent!
This book was such a fun read, and made me want to go back to re-watch the Little Mermaid for the first time in decades. However, it's also the third book in a series, which I didn't realize until after I was halfway through the story and couldn't follow along with the majority of the “background“ story.
However, I still sang along with Poor Unfortunate Souls, and enjoyed the overall retelling of the classical story.
Was a quick and easy read.
Nice to know some back story from the villain from my favourite Disney movie 🧜🏻♀️
Was enjoyable enough to hold my attention, though it very closely followed the movie itself.
A quick read to kick start the week.
I've just completed this book. It's the third in the series, but I'm going to take a break from this series and read something in the Halloween spirit! 🎃🎃
#PoorUnfortunateSoul
This was a good follow up that focuses on the story of Ursula and Ariel and what made the sea witch such a villain. I liked how it still had Circe and her odd sisters and connected to the beast.

If you‘ve seen The Little Mermaid, then you already know Ursula‘s story. Not much about it is expanded here, although you do get some backstory that is absent from the film. Poor Unfortunate Soul reveals her familial connection to Ariel, her deep rooted hatred for Triton, and why she has assumed her octopus form.
I am still loving this series even thou it is taking me a lot longer to get through it then I feel it should be. This one was about Ursula. On to the next one!
This is also coming out in September. 🐍
I need this one!
@Jilly6183 I just got your second package. Thank you so much for everything. I love all of it! The bookmark is amazing! 😍 you have been so generous! Thank you for hosting #bbsredacted It‘s been so much fun swapping books with you ☺️
Excited to start this one this evening!

Fancied a short fantastical read and wasn't disappointed. Definitely give the rest of this series and the Twisted Disney tales as bit of adult twist on fairytales
After the Final from Hell or otherwise called Statistics. I hoped in a car in my way to a weekend of Disney. I will post all my #sss #stuffedstockingswap goodies when I get back.
Pinky swear
Can‘t think of a better place to read about Ursula
This poor Unfortunate Soul is working today. 😬☢️🐙
Poor Unfortunate Soul was a nice, quick read. I enjoyed it, but not as much as I thought I would. Maybe if I had realized sooner that it was the third in a series that was actually entwined with the previous books, I would‘ve enjoyed it more. Now I have the problem of too many choices in what I read next.... #shelfie #books #toomanychoices #whatdoireadnext #help
A four hour interview is totally deserving of relaxation with a book & Chinese food, right? #exhausted #wokeuptooearly #longmorning #anxietyonhighalert #interviewday #kindle #kindlereads #chinesefood #pajamasallday #snowday
Yo. Work was tough, today. The one bad thing about breaks is that routines get messed up for everyone😭 Winding down with this book while I chill with my sick girly.😷 #reading #kindlereads #kindle #relaxingwithabook #sickkid #comingbackfrombreaksisnofun
Thought it fitting that a book about Ursula be my next read since I decided to go without my Alice case & just have my Ariel vinyl skin protecting my Kindle.🧜🏻♀️🐙📖
Ok, I caved. I'm really tired but I NEEDED to open one of my swaps. So I chose the #allhallowsreadswap package from the awesome @TheReadingMermaid
Thanks so much! I've been wanting the tagged book. I may have eaten some candy in 🛌 (now I'm probably too wired to go to sleep). Thanks so much and Happy Halloween! 🎃👻😈👹👺💀🤡🕷🦈🦇🕸🍎
This was not one of my favorites. It just rehashed things a bit. I really wanted to understand Ursula and be able to empathize. This didn‘t give enough of the history to make me really feel anything for her.
Almost a quarter through.... undecided. the words definitely capture the imagination and pull you in.

I‘m in the middle of a few books right now and I started one of the Disney Villians books this morning — Poor Unfortunate Souls: The Tale of the Sea Witch. I‘ve always been a fan of the little mermaid fairytale and the Disney retelling so I obviously had to try this one first. I‘m surprised actually how enjoyable it is and I may have to read them all after all. #bookaddict #booklover #bookblog
Another good back story.
It was nice to know what happened with Ursula and Triton.
If you didn't sing THAT bit you're lying.
I realllllly enjoyed this book. This is Ursula‘s side of the story of The Little Mermaid and it was a lot of fun. I liked how other Disney evil queens were mentioned and incorporated into the story. Great story!
After reading this book, I was “WOW”. I have been playing “Poor Unfortunate Souls” while reading it XD. All in all, I do enjoy it especially there were parts that mentioned the “The Little Mermaid & Beauty and The Beast”. Also, some minor that based on Ursula‘s past. I recommend you guys reading it. I‘m looking forward to read the whole series from the author: Miss Serena Valentino.
Finished my anime manga break, Now it‘s time to read this book. Any thoughts? (No spoilers! Please and Thank you)
I love Ursula! I'm looking forward to this origin story!
Reading with my favorite book travel pillow! My nana made it for me a few years ago and I love it! It's so convenient, especially when traveling 🚗📖
3⭐️
I love Disney stories. With this version, I think I needed more depth. I wanted more history between Ursula and Triton. I wanted more details of what she was doing when Ariel was with Eric. I liked the book, but it left me wanting more.
I love the cover though. I wish the title was more visible!
Last review of the night! I had to take advantage of having signal, lol. I wanted so badly to like this book, but if the book is the story through Ursula's point-of-view, shouldn't the focus be her? I'm really disappointed with this one... iBook read.
Seriously, how could I not? .99 kindle book! #retelling #blameitonamazon
Light and easy read. Managed to finish it in 2 hours. I do love seeing into how the villains of these stories become so villainous. Full review to come on my blog brutalbookworm.blogspot.com
"Hate- true hate- wasn't just conjured; it was birthed. It had to come from within so it might become it's own entity and slither into the hearts of its enemies to choke them."
Love ❤️ this book. The third book of this series and loved all three can't wait for the four one 😄. If you love the Disney movies and want to know more about the villains then this series is a must lol.
My guy is an enabler. Went out for ice cream and he's says wanna go to the book store. Like I would say no to that.
Another one from Serena Valentino telling us how and why Ursula became evil. I enjoy reading about villains and what made them choose the dark side.
