I tend to reread a lot of books, especially if they are favorites or are by a favorite author. I couldn't narrow it down to just one for this prompt, so I decided to go with basically any of Neil Gaiman's books, since he's a go to comfort author for me! 📚💕

I‘m rating this a pick, but for me, it‘s really between a so-so and a pick. I thought I would really enjoy this one, as the premise is great. The story did hold my attention but the only character I cared about was Richard, the MC.

One of my favorite Neil Gaiman books! Absolutely loved the characters and felt so bad for Richard as his world flipped upside down! Who else has read this? What are your thoughts?

1. Neil Gaiman, though I'd likely get too nervous to speak lol
2. Just about his life and wife and writing, probably nothing he's not answered before.
3. Oh gosh.. I don't know.. I haven't counted them, but I'd venture a guess of at least over 100.

I tried. I really did. About 140 pages in I gave up and just read the last few chapters. This book has magic and mystery and danger and a whole underworld of London and I was bored. This is my second Gaiman that I felt meh about. I think he‘s just not for me, which makes me really sad as people seem to love him. It‘s always a bit baffling when I‘m not into a book that by all rights and reason should resonate with me #loki #dogsoflitsy #petsoflitsy

I wanted to love this book. I really really wanted to. While I recognize Gaiman is a great writer, and this was generally a well written story, I just wasn't able to care about these characters or this story. I may give another one of his books a try eventually. But this one just didn't do it for me.

Neil Gaiman used fantastic characters and a great plot to send the reader on a fantastical journey into the world of London Below. Loved it! 5⭐

I‘ll be honest, I didn‘t like this as much as I thought I would. My feelings about Neil Gaiman books have been all over the place (LOVED American Gods, meh on The Sleeper and the Spindle), and this fairy tale/urban fantasy just missed the mark for me (but still going with a pick). Gaiman‘s narration is great though! With angels, rat-speakers, and other strange creatures, this book fits the #teamstoker theme.

I really enjoyed Neverwhere. I'm very curious to see the tv show as well. In the introduction, Gaiman explained that he first wrote this story for a tv show, and decided to write it as a novel so that he could fix things he didn't like about the show, or things that had been changed by other people working on it.

Ah I loved this!!! I actually really really ended up liking Richard, the guy went through half the story going through the craziest things and just downright refused to believe they were happening. Another amazing piece by Gaiman! Now to get my hands on the Illustrated version!

I waited 3 months for this book and I am LOVING it, but the last two days I have been interrupted and had my mood completely spoiled while listening to it, (family issues) and it‘s ruining the listen for me. Its due back in 2 days and I have about 4 hours left to listen too. I really hope tomorrow goes better. I‘ll most likely pick up a physical copy though and do a re read so I can fully enjoy the parts that have been ruined for me.

Ah i am so glad I checked my Libby just now, I had no clue my copy of Neverwhere finally came available! I have been dying to start this and now I finally can! I shall start it tonight since I have a migraine and cant read, hopefully ill be able to listen to the story just fine.

So after my so-so interest with Good Omens I was a bit hesitant when this audiobook came up as available. The only reason I didn‘t immediately return this book was because I was waiting on my other 12 books to become available, it literally was my only option. I‘m about half way through & I‘m not disappointed! I‘m so glad it worked out that this was my only option bc I‘m really digging it. 👍🏼 hoping the 2nd half of this book does not disappoint!

The 5th Wave is a great YA series that dwindles but never really flops.

Neverwhere I loved and I am SO looking forward to the sequel!

Antigoddess was interesting, but not enough for me to keep reading the series. Although, fans of Percy Jackson and Greek mythology might want to give it a go.

The Young Elites was a very interesting book and a series I have yet to finish, but also one I plan on finishing.

Currently reading "neverwhere" by Neil gaiman! I think this will be a new favorite read. :)

Book 52 of the year, finished July 6, audio

Ive read a whole lot of Pratchett, but not much Gaiman. This made Good Omens feel a whole lot like a Gaiman book that Pratchett added in the one-liners.

Over all it was very enjoyable. A young man accidentally slips out of London and into London Below, where life is a lot more cut throat and unknown dangers and wonders lurk in every corner.

This was a fantastic audiobook! The characters were interesting and the plot was so imaginative. I was truly worried about Richard, Door, and the Marquis throughout the story. At one point you're not sure who to trust. Neil Gaiman's narration was fun and made me feel like a kid listening to a storybook again. Image from Bookly which I just started using recently.

Week 1 check in and updated goals for #BFCr2. My goal is just to get back into the habit of exercising and eating healthier, so much cardio at the beginning wasn't very realistic. I'm about 70% through Neverwhere and almost to book 2 in Midnight's Children. Here's to a better week!

Sorry for the low quality photo lol. A very slow start to week 1 but I managed to drink all of my water today, log my meals, and I did some power walking on my treadmill tonight while listening to the tagged audiobook. 30 minutes/1.55 miles on the treadmill and 1 and a half chapters listened to. This is my current audiobook. I‘ve read all of Gaiman‘s works, now I‘m listening to all the audiobooks. I love that he reads his own books.

They officially know my name at this little coffee shop. Delicious lunch while I listened to the tagged audiobook. Neil Gaiman really has me worried for Richard lol. And his narration is wonderful.

In London Below, #wherethestreetshavenoname (only names of places), Richard Mayhew must learn to survive among monsters and saints, murderers and angels. An enjoyable read.

This is definitely one of my favorite reads this year! I love Gaiman‘s imagination and his wit. Found myself frequently laughing out loud. Have to see if I can find the BBC series. Here‘s someone‘s rendering of the Rat Speaker.

Okay, so I‘m a hardcore Gaiman prose fan: My copy of American Gods is an original first edition I bought in a Hastings bookstore and I have an electronic backup copy. I have Neverwhere in the original version in both paperback and CD AND copies of the Author‘s Preferred Text in hard copy and Audible. I‘ve read them countless times. But I‘ve just discovered that Neverwhere may be structurally perfect. (Above is the beginning of Richard‘s Ordeal.)
