I loved The Subtle Knife and have just started rereading The Amber Spyglass. The feels are strong. 😭

Despite being quite a short book, it's incredibly powerful and made me tear up near the end. It's profound and very moving, and Charlie Gordon is a character who'll stick in my mind for a while. 4⭐️/5

I liked the writing very much, but this book is a real 'slow burn' type and I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped until the last quarter or so of the story. I usually need characters I can really feel for, but for most of the book I felt quite detached from them. 3⭐️/5

Despite a slow start and names that are kind of difficult to grasp at first, I ended up really loving this! It is SO different from Ender's Game, but I loved it anyway - I thought the science/anthropology side was fascinating and I loved the new characters by the end. I would recommend this if you like deep and philosophical sci-fi. 5⭐️/5

Very impressive debut from Emma Cline! Loved her writing. Despite the familiar and horrifying plot (the book is based on the Manson case), I was still gripped by Evie's story. 4⭐️/5

Disappointed by this. It took a turn that I just didn't like and ended up being more than a simple kidnapping story. I think I would have preferred it if it had been just a kidnapping story! However, the perspectives were well done, and I was interested to see what happens to the girl. Rating: 3⭐️/5
