Pickpick

Two centuries ago, three sisters were sentenced to death for witchery. Stones were tied to their ankles and they were drowned in the deep waters surrounding the town. Now, for a brief time each summer, the sisters return, stealing the bodies of three troubled girls so that they may seek their revenge, luring boys into Sparrow's harbor and pulling them under.

I do not typically read this genre, but a podcast I listen to recommended it. It is a hefty novel at 945 pages, but held my interest throughout. Great characterization and well written. I might just have to read the sequel as well!

This book had so many elements. It is set during the cold war at a military base in Canada. There is a murder and a military secret and abuse that you would never guess would affect each other, but they do. It is a story about how far families will go to protect each other. Great read!

The bell begins to toll and all eyes are fixed on the church. No one sees the gloved hands holding a garrote. As the last notes fade into the dark, a woman lies dead. I really enjoyed this book, I might have to read more from this author.
