A Stranger in the House
A Stranger in the House | Shari Lapena
Your home still isn't the safe place it should be, in Shari Lapena's pulse-pounding new thriller. ***** You come home after a long day at work, ready for dinner with your wife. But she's not there. And it looks like she left in a blind panic. Her mobile phone and her bag are still in the house. You fear the worst. You call the police. And they tell you that your wife's been in an accident. She lost control of her car as she sped through a street on the worst side of town. But why would she go there? Was she running towards something? Away from something? The police think she was up to no good. You refuse to believe it. Then you start to wonder. You've been married for three years and you thought you knew her better than anyone on earth. But maybe you don't.

#StrangerInTheHouse #ShariLapena

Karen Krupp can‘t remember the past after she had a car accident. What was she doing in that part of town? Is Karen capable of murder? Her husband and her best friend are wondering about her. Does she have a secret past? Good writing. This was an easy read and a twisty page-turner. Kept me guessing. Suspenseful. Recommended to those who love psychological thrillers.

What the actual Fraggle Rock kind of stuff was this? I liked this book, but I'm indifferent about suggesting this one.

Karen suffered amnesia from a car accident and is now being accused of murder. Why did she run out so frantically at night anyway? The truth is she has a secret past that neither her husband Tom or their neighbor (and her best friend) don‘t even know about.

But is Karen really capable of murder?

There was a predictable twist and ending that most mystery readers will be able to figure out before the halfway point, but I enjoyed reading it.

As far as mystery/thriller novels go, this one was decent. It doesn‘t fall into the trap of too obviously and frustratingly withholding information (I‘m looking at you Woman In The Window). That said, the characters and settings are still relatively one dimensional.

I think if you are a fan of the genre you will probably be satisfied with this book.

Karen Krupp is the perfect house wife but when she is in a bad car accident racing away from the rough part of town the same night a man was murdered ... maybe she‘s not so perfect after all.

I did enjoy this but felt we needed another couple of chapters to wrap it up , I wanted more info. Unless she is leaving it open for a second 🤷‍♀️

This author writes some seriously twisty books. No matter how much you think you know what's going on, she will find some way to surprise you.

It's hard to write about psychological thrillers without giving away spoilers. If you enjoy this genre, I definitely recommend this one.

I wasn‘t sure what to expect going into this book after reading some of the pan and so-so reviews, but I actually enjoyed it! It was recommended to me by a friend, so that‘s why I ultimately gave it a chance and I‘m glad I did. It was well-written and a fun mystery/thriller read. The only problem was that I figured out the mystery about halfway through the book. This was pretty much a Lifetime movie in book format

📚I don‘t read a lot of psychological suspense so I don‘t know how this compares to other books In the genre.
📚I recommend the audiobook over other formats. The voice actor Tavia Gilbert is ace.
📚I would read another novel by this author. In fact, I‘ve got An Unwanted Guest waiting for me on my Kindle thanks to Libby.
📚Overall entertaining with a twisty, satisfying pay off.

The most predictable mystery/thriller I've read in ages. It was tolerable, but not even exciting enough to make up for the lack of surprises. Maybe at some point I'll try another one of her books, since I have heard such great things about her. But this one was definitely not for me.

The storyline was ok, but I figured out who did it before the middle of the book.
The characters were just okay, again another book written with a nosy neighbor involved. I didn't feel any need to want to turn the pages in a hurry, finding myself, putting it down to read another book

Yet another book stuck between Pick and So-So. Karen gets into a car accident, has amnesia and cant remember anything from that night. Her husband cant figure out what she was doing in the bad part of town and starts to doubt her and someone is dead. Unfortunately, the book was very predictable. I saw every twist from a mile away. However, the book was a very quick read.

I found this in my library's collection of Mysteries Without Murder. That's terribly inaccurate as this is 100% a murder mystery thriller... but it's SO GOOD. I'm really into it so I can't be that mad. I was misled though lol

I started walking recently (taking a PE class at the college has really motivated me) and it was kind of...boring? So I figured I would try audiobooks again, and it definitely helped today (first day audio-walking). I didn‘t go as far as I wanted, but I could tell my dog was getting tired and thirsty so we headed home. #audiowalking #audiowalk (so glad I discovered Libby! That‘s what I‘m going to use for audiobooks)

LoverOfLearning Is Libby free? 2y
Tera0707 @LoverOfLearning it is. Mine is connected to my local library. I‘m not sure if all libraries use it, however, so you may have to look that up. I‘m so glad I found it though. It gives you an estimate on how long the wait for a book is, and you can see the “countdown” until the book is available to you. 2y

This was a quick read and Lapena can be relied on to provide a good mystery, but I feel like this one kind of broke the rules in a way when it came to POV. Can't explain further without major spoilers, and I do think it's worth picking up for mystery/thriller lovers.

The only real redeeming quality for this book was the twist at the end.....other than that I had a really hard time connecting with the characters. The writing seemed kinda surface level. It was a quick and easy read if that is what you are looking for and she did leave it open ended for a potential sequel...
