Four Dead Queens | Astrid Scholte

This one was a little hard to get into, with there being a lot of information and lore thrown at you in the beginning, but once I finally got into the world, it was a lot of fun. A fantasy murder mystery that kept me guessing all the way through. I was a little worried I would be able to predict everything that was going to happen, but was pleasantly surprised when all my theories were proven wrong. Overall, 10/10, would recommend.

A bit of a heavy read, but well worth it. The story was fantastic and kept me reeled in all the way through. The world Sebastian built is super interesting and clearly well thought out and I can‘t wait to get into Lady Smoke next.

Finished just in time for Supernova‘s release on November 5th. As soon as I finished I immediately preordered my copy and now it‘s just a matter of waiting. There was no shortage of action, which is to be expected from a superhero book written by Marissa Meyer, and there were so many sweet moments that really made my heart swell. As per usual, Marissa Meyer hit this one right out of the park.

Stardust | Neil Gaiman

Love, love, love. Stardust has always been one of my favorite movies, but it wasn‘t until recently I realized it was actually first a Neil Gaiman book. I‘d always heard really good things about him, but this was actually my first time reading one of his books. And now I think I‘m gonna go on a Neil Gaiman reading spree to make up for all the time I missed out on reading his stuff.

It‘s been hard to find a moment to read something for fun since school has started, but I finally finished this one on my drive home today. Reminded me a lot of my favorite show ever, Avatar: The Last Airbender, but mixed it with lots or really interesting fantasy tropes. Even though it took me a while to get through just because of my schedule, I still really, really enjoyed it.

“It‘s up to all of us to future-proof our equality.”
There‘s nothing more inspiring than stories of badass women from all walks of life. With so many of my feminist heroes and a bunch of new additions to my list, this was a seriously fun and inspirational read.

So so so good. Beautifully written with beautiful messages and eye opening perspectives that society doesn‘t let us hear from. It breaks my heart that Starr‘s story is so common these days, but really makes me want to get out and do something about it.

Renegades | Marissa Meyer

Marissa Meyer has done it again. She has yet to write I book I didn‘t thoroughly adore, and Renegades was no exception. I love a good superhero story, and super villains are even better. And not to mention, Adrian is quite possibly the love of my life.

Beauty and the Beast has always been one of my favorite movies, as a lover of books and a believer in love and kindness. It brought me so much joy to return to Belle‘s world (along with a whole new one), and I just couldn‘t stop smiling while listening to it.

Mehso-so

I almost stopped reading halfway through because the constant drama and long winded monologues were exhausting. But once I made it past the halfway point, things got so much better. The joy and intrigue I felt when reading Red Queen returned and I was glad I stuck it out.

There‘s just something about a crew of badass seafaring women that‘s always gonna reel me in. A bit predictable and cliche at times, but if you enjoy swashbuckling adventures or strong, interesting female characters, it‘s easy to look past the flaws.

I loved everything about this book, the unapologetic nerdiness, the puzzles, the messages about how our society treats technology, and all the little references to the 80s. It was such a fun read and I‘m a little sad it‘s over. Now, onto the movie.
