#fffs @Pigpen_Reads I am so sorry about the late post on this. I had a family thing and just hit back home today. The candle smells amazing, and I am so looking forward to reading these books. @Avanders thank you for hosting.

A little Friday night reading while watching the kids basketball practice! What are you reading tonight?
It‘s been a long time since I have posted here(over 3 years) and a long time since I have been able to read! This morning I had some time and grabbed a book off the shelf and it completely captured me! Reading made me think about all my Litsy friends so here I am!
The first third of the book was tiresome. The first 50 pages I struggled to connect with the story as I felt thrown into it due it's fast pace.
This story was mainly told from two POVs, alternating between Elaina's and Rielle's.
Though I sometimes was annoyed by the narrative I enjoyed the writing style and was impressed by the worldbuilding
I wish people talked about this series more, it is SO good!! a ton of fantasy and dystopian fun with a really cool twist. please, read it if you like fantasy in the slightest.
"Some say the Queen was frightened in her last moments. But I like to think that she was angry."
Mail sure takes forever to reach this side of the world, but these bookmarks finally arrived after a 2-month wait. ?
Reread needed before jumping into the rest of the series to remind me. I just love this world, this story and the characters. I think I liked it better the second time around. Happy to have the refresh before finally diving into the next book that's been judging me for more than a year 🤣

I still have a LOT of books I want to finish before the year is up. Quite a few are rereads because the series has or is soon to be complete and I can't remember how they left off and a lot are in progress books I want to check off. I'm not kidding myself thinking I'm going to get to them all but these are going to be what I draw from....I hope...for the #WinterGames
Wish me luck 😂

“You believe too easily,“ Eliana muttered.
“And you don't believe enough.“
“Belief doesn't keep you alive.“
“But given time, it can win wars.“
“Sometimes your darkness shines so brightly that I want to devour you. Maybe if I have enough of you, that light you shine will stave off the wickedness that lives inside of me.“
“We all have darkness inside us, Rielle,“ he said, his voice rough. “That is what it means to be human.“
Overall a good story, and I was surprised that the two different timelines worked out the way they did. The characters lacked real depth and growth, though it was there minutely. The world building felt like it missed a step. Lots of potential, but there‘s so many places named, but not a part of the story. The final 100 pages really took off, and may try the sequel just to see how Rielle and Eliana end up going next as their respective Queen type
Halfway thoughts. I really love the diversity of these two women. Rielle of the past, trying to prove her power as the (possible) Sun Queen, as Eliana of the present, just trying to survive not as a part of the resistance of the empire. It‘s still something new to accept that these two stories are desolate from the other. The different ways these two live and fight for what they believe in. A slower read then I thought, either way, a lot going on
Roughly pg 100, so here‘s some thoughts. It is an interesting take to alternative between two woman‘s points of view 1,000 years apart. Practically in different worlds. The connection between them is not very well situated, but has been mentioned. The opening prologue is so vague, I don‘t know how it matches with either women. I am enjoying Rielle and Eliana‘s different ways of surviving. Strong world building & dialogue. I like Rielle in the past
Finished this one today. It was ok. I have read a lot of these book in the YA genre and there was something lacking here that I cannot put my finger on. The two main characters could have been more well developed. Background on the angels and why they are in this world could also been helpful. I will read the next in the series to see if it improves.
Another day is paradise. Get to that point if vacation where I am trying not to think about all the work that awaits me when we go home! #summerreading #beachreading #vacation
Starting this tonight! I hope it is good. I need a good easy gripping read.
I really enjoyed the beginning of this but the longer it went in the less I cared what was happening. I did really enjoy Rielle's part of the story but when it came to Eliana's the story just kept losing me.
I went with a 3 star rating and I'm not really sure if I will continue the series or not just yet.

My May reading wrap-up! (A few days late)
Favorite comic/graphic novel: Persephone
Favorite book: Furyborn
7 comics
8 books
Total:15
It first I wasnt sure about having a story told by two different characters from two different times. I usually steer clear of this type of writing style. But after I got the hang of it, I was quickly swept up in a violent storm of magic, love, hurt and intrigue. Elena and Rielle we connected it such a beautiful way that was very unexpected.
Good morning it‘s Friday and yesterday I made banana bread and today I get to eat it for breakfast! Here‘s some books I‘m planning to make some progress on today or this weekend. Technically Furyborn is my audiobook and I‘m struggling through Passenger but I‘m hoping it will get better.
What are you reading this weekend?
I had a little trouble getting into it but when I did I loved it! Can not wait for my library hold on the next in the series and was really upset when I realized I‘ll have to wait even longer for the finale!
"People like us don‘t fight for our own hope,” he said quietly. “We fight for everyone else‘s."

Ok so this is really bad on audio 😖The voices are cartoonish and cringey! Otherwise this was like 2 different books: the first half I continuously considered dropping it, then the second half was engaging and had me falling in love with the characters! I don‘t like the back and forth between 2 different storylines but I loved the elemental magic and the love story/relationships. This finally won me over. Bring on the next book.😼

#NursesOfLitsy This was my audiobook for breaks at work this past weekend. So far so good! 😆🔥
Not exactly a #NewYearWhoDis read, but since the second book of this trilogy *is* on my list from @sebrittainclark I needed to read this one first.
It‘s listed as YA fantasy on GR, but it didn‘t feel very YA to me...if I don‘t roll my eyes, is it really YA? 😂.
Excellent world building and mythology, good writing and nicely drawn characters. Lots of action and even some sexy times. 🔥
Looking forward to my Kingsbane hold coming in!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
So I tired for TWO DAYS to love this book but I‘m A. Confused out of my ever living mind and B. Bored as all get out. I thought this was going to be one amazing fantasy but unfortunately it just didn‘t happen. You have two storylines 1000 years apart switching every chapter. So your never in one persons POV enough to start caring.
I have had this book on my kindle for a year and still haven‘t read it! Has anyone read it? Is it good? I‘m really thinking I should start it.
It‘s been hard to find a moment to read something for fun since school has started, but I finally finished this one on my drive home today. Reminded me a lot of my favorite show ever, Avatar: The Last Airbender, but mixed it with lots or really interesting fantasy tropes. Even though it took me a while to get through just because of my schedule, I still really, really enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this more than I expected. I haven‘t been reading much YA lately and this reminded me of my love for good YA. I‘ve already borrowed the next in the series.
I just can't even with this sweet boy and his silly sleeping poses! 🤣😂 He's such a great reading buddy! 💕📚 #catsoflitsy #littenkitten
Chaplin and I are hanging out in my book room, reading and drinking tea. 📚☕ It's a perfectly relaxing day so far! Happy Sunday, littens! Chaplin and I love you all! 😊😸💕📚 #catsoflitsy #littenkitten
Apparently I'm not the only one in my home that loves to cuddle up with books! 😻💕📚 #catsoflitsy #littenkitten
Conflicted characters, fixing the crimes of the past and an interesting magic system? Yes please! It was so easy to sit down and read 100+ pages at a time. I‘m really looking forward to the next book
Finally pushed myself to finish this book today! This book took me a little to get into but it had really good action and pacing and gave off kinda Avatar(tla) vibes. It's about this prophecy where two queens with lotsa powers are either going to doom or save the world. The whole thing switches stories and timelines constantly between past and present but was handled really well and I at least was invested in both. All in all a promising beginning!
