I am suffering my way through sub par fantasy fiction lately…. This was okay enough for me to look for the next book. Not good enough to buy it… 😕😕😕😕😕😕😕😕😕

My happy place. It‘s a bit warm this morning tho. 84F feels like 91 and rising. We have storms on the way so I guess I‘ll sit out here while I can. What‘s the weather like by you?
I wanted to love this one, but it just wasn‘t for me. I struggled with how ‘back and forth‘ Theo was on absolutely everything. She really frustrated me.
I really enjoyed this round of #LMPBC 📚 @Endowarrior21 I‘ll get this in the mail for you on Monday.

Nicole I‘m starting with the books! Thank you so much I love your choices! And the “atmosphere” of seeing them together 😘 #heas #happilyeverafterswap
It's crazy. It's been so hard to focus on reading this year. I have manages to get almost 50 books in, but I wanted more. Hehehe. With all the surgery and physical therapy, there was just a lot of sleeping. Then the decision fatigue from this crazy as.. year. Did anyone else have the same issue getting through books? They were still an escape, lots of rereading this year for me. This design came to me over it all. 💜
I loved this book. I loved the world and the history and religion/gods were so interesting. I also really liked the characters and can‘t wait to read the second and third books in the series. Although I loved this book, I couldn't give it 5 🌟, because for the first 200 pages was it was very slow. Still, I loved this book and would totally recommend it, especially if you like Sarah J. Maas. More in the comments.
#LMPBC #Round10 #GroupF @CareBear @CaraTK @Alfrazier21 I am half through my pick I wrote and highlighted in the beginning but I got into the book and maybe done it a few times lol.
Between a pick and a so so. Interesting concept, but don‘t like that it has that feeling of a love triangle. I have the second one so I‘ll try and see where it goes. Curious about where the friendship between Thora and Cress lead to after their falling out, if that‘s the right word. 😂

Highly recommended by my teen, who is reading the third one. I enjoyed itmore than I thought I would and look forward to the rest.
I love this book! I'm not usually one for fantasy but Ash Princess is really well done. There's a full review up on the blog today (www.allmybalancingacts.com). I love fairytale retelling, but this is NOT a Cinderella retelling or sequel or anything. I can't wait to get my hands on the next two books in the trilogy!
Impulse e-book buys to add to my #MountTBR. In my defence, altogether they only cost me $9. 🥰😻😬📚🤣🤷🏻♀️🎶💖
Guess who just took her last final of the semester?! 🙋🏻♀️
Guess who is going to try and pack in as many books as possible while on a short break?! 🙋🏻♀️
I‘m very excited to have more reading time guys! Maybe I can actually check Litsy more since I miss you all so much! 😭🤪
And yes I am sitting in front of my shelf trying to decide what books to read! It‘s my happy place! 🧘🏻♀️
A bit of a heavy read, but well worth it. The story was fantastic and kept me reeled in all the way through. The world Sebastian built is super interesting and clearly well thought out and I can‘t wait to get into Lady Smoke next.
I finally got the courage to try and paint my book edges and they turned out beautiful!!
Slow start gave way to an inciting story. Theodosia has gotten caught by the attention of Prinz Søren, and love, while trying to escape his fathers rule over her country, and over her. Theo‘s story of going from a surviving ash lamb to a ferocious fire Queen was of standing big up for yourself and tour country depending on you.
Oh My Gosh this book is amazing!! Lady Thora, aka the Last Princess Theodosia of Astrea, is finally getting her powerful mind to work! The Kaiser invaded and took over her land, killing her mother the Fire Queen, and made Thora his little play thing to break and show at events that he‘s conquered this land. Now the Prinz is interested in her. Her mind is sharper then any sword. Can‘t wait to watch her rebel.
Held me captive love medieval worlds this was a fresh take on a princess story line.
“I‘m a frightened shadow of a girl. I‘m a fractured mind and a trembling body. I am a prisoner.”—page 29
I‘ve had this on my kindle for ages but only just got around to reading it because I needed a book with a crown on the cover, and I‘m mad at myself for waiting for so long. It‘s really really good. BUT it also reads very similar to Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas and another book I can‘t think of at this moment. I can‘t wait to see what happens next in the series though.
I really enjoyed this book. I think it's not original, I mean, Theo has lost her kingdom and her family and the love interest helps her to take it back... but I enjoyed it anyway.
So, I loved Theo as a character, though I didn't like the secondary characters. I hope that changes in the second book. But she is so strong, she captivated me. The plot was simple, but that's not a reason for it to be bad. I think Theo made it good.
I hate Blaise and I don't like any secondary character. I like Theo tho, and the plot isn't bad. Not original, but not bad. Idk, I feel like there are some things that could be much better.
I hit a serious slump a few weeks ago and haven't read any books since. Trying to get back into it with this one. Anyone read it?
I haven‘t had much time to read lately but I made it through this one, which I loved! Can‘t wait for Lady Smoke!
This is a YA novel but the brutality and desolation in some parts brought me to tears. When Thora/Theo‘s country is conquered, her mother the queen killed and her people enslaved, the Kaiser decides to keep her as a prisoner rather than killing her. He uses every opportunity to brutalize, ridicule and shame her. 10 years later, he forces her to do something so horrible, it propels her on a mission to make him & all his people pay.
Time to reread Ash Princess so I can get to Lady Smoke next month
We are not defined by the things we do in order to survive. We do not apologize for them...Maybe they have broken you, but you are a sharper weapon because of it. And it is time you strike.

Bought a new book while on vacation since I'm sure I will finish the one I brought. You know, just in case ;)
Really enjoyed this book and can‘t wait for the next in the series! Beautifully written, fast paced plot, and in depth characters.
I did struggle with frustration at several of the characters and there choices. Even though it was described and explained, i still struggled to understand their reasoning behind the choices they made.
I quite enjoyed this one, there were just a few niggles that didn't make it quite as amazing as I wanted it to be. I'm interested to read the second instalment to see if it takes it up a notch. I think what's missing from it is a bit of grit. The main character has been through a traumatic event and I don't quite feel empathetic enough towards her yet.
I've really been getting into books where the female protagonist saves herself and this is definitely a good read. I can't wait for the sequel Lady Smoke.
This was the second fantasy type novel I have read as I just recently got into fantasy and this one was something I could not put down! I cannot wait for the second one to release!
This books started super strong, and was highly realistic for a YA novel about the situation a captured Princess finds herself in. But I thought the romance was a bit rushed and I had real trouble believing that the most evil of evil men wouldn‘t notice some big changes. I won‘t read the rest of the series, but it was good for about 60% of the book.
“In a land without a Queen. The Princess must rise.”
Theodosia was six when her country was invaded and her mother, the Fire Queen, was murdered right before her eyes. The evil Kaiser who took Theo‘s mother‘s, land, and her name and crowned her the Ash Princess. A title that brought shame and made her the Kaiser‘s prisoner.
For ten years she has watched the Kaiser pillage her land and enslave her people. That ends now.

4.5/5 stars
This book was dark and amazing at the same time.
I was on the edge of my chair. I cried, I was scared, shocked and the story made me sick but don't get me wrong. It was a good enchanting and dark story but be aware of mental and physical abuse and rape.
I like that there was a hint of magic, hopefully we get to see more of it in the sequel.
If you liked An Ember In The Ashes and The Falling Kingdom series you will love Ash Princess.
