Today is the fourth day of #bannedbookweek. In 1994, Flowers in the Attic by V. C. Andrews was banned while Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel was challenged. This means members of my generation were denied the pleasure of discovering trashy novels.

I had forgotten what a hot mess these characters were. Heathcliff needs to chill.

I love filmmakers who go on to write beautiful stories and (auto)biographies. Jean Renoir was fabulous. Loving this book so far.

We held a Curious George Storytime for the silly monkey's 75th Birthday. Art activities and hijinks ensued.

I've been thinking of the various films I have seen and the ones I didn't this year; or, why some stories work and why some don't. This has been a fun read and recommended for those interested in exploring the craft.

#TBT When I met Mr. Nicholas Meyer at Warwicks for a book signing. He was wonderful and his stories about filming Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan made me giggle. Happy Anniversary Star Trek!

I had recommended this to one of my teens and I realized that it had been years since I had read it. It's just as amazing as I remember, possibly more so.

How I spent my lunch today. Or, sometimes you just want to ignore all the literary fiction you "should" be reading and just sit with a book about historical royal dramas.

Catching up with kids literature before my library's Summer Reading Program begins. Octavia Spencer wrote a kid's book? And did the audiobook narration? And it's actually fun and engaging? And it's highly recommend from yours truly for adventurous kids? And there's a second book? YES!

While I have read this book many times, this was the first time with the audio edition. Peter Kenny's narration is perfection. Apparently he has done Iain Banks's Culture books as well. So, I'll have to get those soon enough.

Have I mentioned how much I enjoy Mitchell? Cause I do. Really enjoying this one and I'm sad I haven't read it earlier.

Spending the summer reading David Mitchell, whom I love and adore.

On my radar for awhile and now I'm sad I waited for so long. Supernatural detectives in 19th century America? Yes, please, and thank you. Plus, Oh My God! this cover is gorgeous. Lovely audiobook for my drive to and from work.

It's a good day when you receive a copy of a new Claire North book.

So, I just want to take Adam Parrish out of this book and protect him. Or, I'm getting back into YA literature and I feel emotionally compromised.

I haven't read too many of the Star Wars books. Husband is my go-to source on extended material. He had recommended Lost Stars by Gray and I LOVED IT. This is just as good. Why couldn't parts of this been in Force Awakens? Action, politics, and Leia. I need more SW from Claudia Gray ASAP.

Working my way slowly through this one. Part one of four volumes.

A fun book for any kid looking to explore the mystery genre. This is a debut novel and I hope the author continues to explore these characters in a sequel or series.

Quick read, sound story, great for a younger reader who has an interesting in ecology.

Catching up with current Middle Grade books. This is Mary Knight's first book an it's wonderful.

It was on that train, shuffling towards Cincinnati, that she resolved to be on guard - always. She wanted to make certain that no man ever looked at her that way. That no midnight eyes or marbled flesh would ever accost her and turn her into jelly.

Best part about being a children's librarian? Seeing all the fun new picture books! Here are some great titles for young readers. Skunk on a String should be made into a Pixar short.

Finished this book last week. Fun, light series for anyone needing a break from heavy reading.
