A disease has consumed most of the world leaving behind 3 types of people. The wicked, the true and the vexed. The wicked are described like children with no impulse control and a want to kill. I didn't see the twist coming. It was a good book with a decent storyline maybe a bit lacking here and there mostly of how the disease came about. Quick read with a Walking Dead world full of wicked people and survival feel.

My first graphic novel. I liked the illustrations and the multiple timeline story. I will definitely be continuing with the story if only because there was a lot going on in this first volume and I'm not sure I grasped the entire arc and storyline. If you enjoy action packed fast paced Sci Fi this is for you.

Rico, was a likeable character in the beginning I definitely understood her desperation to find the ticket because of her economic standing, I believe as the book went on her constant reminder of just how poor she was, was overdramatic. I loved the different inanimate object point of views. I would have liked to learn more about her partner in crime background throughout the book to understand his point of why he did what he did in the end.

The writing was great. I found the characters odd enough to fit where the author was going but relatable enough. I did find out the twist early on but it didn't take away from the book at all. Enjoyable, funny read highly recommend.

This was one of my most anticipated books and I just did not love it.The writing was able to pull me in, the story was entertaining enough to finish. The middle took a weird turn for me and never seemed to come back. I didn't like the ending although it does leave room for drawing your own conclusions. Some of the characters you are to believe they are resourceful, cunning, smart seemed to believe things that they were told at face value.

I really thought this book was true to what might happen of you worked in New York City in the book publishing world. How easy it would be to get caught up with powerful writers, thinking you could learn so much from them instead lose yourself and your dream of making it big. In turn, causing you to do a few things you might not do usually. I also like that to me the title had multiple meanings in the book.

Djspens Sounds like a good read for my newly graduated journalism/English major daughter who would loooove to be an author in NYC... 5mo
saheffernan I would highly recommend this book as a fictional look at that world for sure. It was a good fast read! 5mo

Addresses tough issues with some humor. Toxic relationships are the main theme and they really seemed to cover how it happens that you end up in a toxic relationship and continue in that cycle. How people in those relationships change and hurt other parts of their life while in them.

What an incredible book broaching subjects often talked about under the cover of darkness, or in a light that points fingers in all the wrong directions. This book is dark and scary but also so real because this is the world teenagers live in. To speak up or not speak up vigilante justice because technicalities or influence mean more than you as a person do.

The publisher has sent me this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Betrayed by a husband, ever learned something about a loved one who's gone? How about a best friend, brother in law? We learn about Alice and Beth two best friends in current day. Then we go back and learn about their lives in the 9 yrs before they meet and how intertwined we can be with someone and not even know. We learn how deceptive even those who are closest to us can be

Ever felt like your lost and wondering even though you had planned out a whole life and executed the perfect things to make that life happen but, now maybe you don't want that life? It's not so easy to adjust especially if your parents push you to do what was the original plan. This book is about the turmoil of adjusting and when maybe your parents can't or won't adjust to whom you really are. It's about unlikely, but perfectly timed friendships.

The unique style in which this book was written was great. I loved discovering along with Amy & Roger all the places they traveled. Meeting friends along the way. I was glad for the personal growth and discoveries they made in their travels too. The song lyrics as titles was also great I loved when they finally made sense in each chapter.

Great companion novel to Dumplin'. I enjoyed this book more than the first. The friendship between the girls that develops is great and I love how they brought in what real friend problems would be, as well as, asexual character and the girls learning a little about that. Finding a way to live your life on your own even with mistakes is difficult but fun and this book showed that.

Daisy Jones and The Six has it all love, Lust, heartbreak, rock n roll, sex, drugs, addiction to it all. It reads like a behind the music show with a little of where are they now thrown in. I was laughing then crying following the story of the band and how they became a band. A story so layered with emotion it speaks volumes in more than just the words. Including the lyrics of the songs along with this book makes it truly unique.

"Everybody has a reason to want to change their lives" Magpie has some of the best. I love how it ended feeling complete. I liked Magpie as a character and her new group of outcast friends. I was blown away by the topics covered and the way they were talked about from transgendered characters to sexual abuse were elegantly addressed. I recommend this to anyone who loves sci-fi and contemporary mashups while dealing with grand scale issues.

Learning Harley Quinns back story in this book was a great experience for anyone who loves Harley and her relationship with the King Clown crime villian himself Mr. J. At points, I felt like Harley was more involved then she really would have been and not been as quickly drug into the life and charm that is Puddin'. I loved the ending I really feel like Harley was coming into her own and it left me wanting to watch what she would get into next.

As someone who grew up watching and loving Buffy, the spin off Angel, I'm very tied to the Buffyverse. Slayer kept the Buffy humor which is so it's own brand and it was on point so that contributes to the higher rating. I feel the last 1/4 of the book really picked up. The first half of the story kind of leaves Buffy as the villian that did not sit well with me. I believe the writting was great and the Buffyverse was left in all it's glory.

Beautiful, honest, heart breaking. If you want to understand someone who grew up living with a mentally unstable drug addict parent or two this is the book you should read. At the beginning of this book I was not connected with the MC. I could never imagine what he had experienced but he felt like he was a bit whiny lacking drive & direction. I believe that to be on purpose the story continues & there is another tragedy Moss comes into his own. If you had told me I would cry for these characters by the end I wouldn't have believed you, but I did. The message that anger when wielded correctly is incredibly powerful.

3.5/5: This was an important story to be told. I however did not like a few things about it. The starting at the end and counting backwards in the storyline. I felt she tried to write 2 different books and mashed them together, all the intertwining of lives seemed like a 2nd story in the making. I don't like how unfinished the book was left. I was left with questions notlife pondering just unfinished story line because we wrote too much sub-plot.

peaknit I agree! The ending wrapped up so quickly, I was not absolutely clear what happened. And what happens to George‘s daughter?🤷‍♀️ 11mo

Don't judge a book by it's cover is something I've been told since I was little. This story showed me how that bleeds into judging people and why first impressions are important we most certainly should never judge a person based on our assumptions. The story was slightly frustrating in parts but I simply think the author was just trying to emphasize the conflict so that the light of why we shouldn't judge would be brighter.

3.5/5: I feel like the book developed into more a romance than what it should have been. It tackled the issues that many Islamic people faced after 9/11 xenophobia. I feel like that could have been brought more to light. I also felt the main character was whiny. I know that it can be hard to open up to anyone especially facing these challenges but it felt like she continued to push above and beyond the necessary.

3.5/5: A little over the top on the feminism scale. There were definitely things said to make it as though men have never added value in anyway. The representation of an asexual character and a gay character was great it helped to advance the plot but not be the main focus. I was not a fan of the ending it seemed rushed and not quite explained enough.

I was so in love with the writing, world building, character development. I thought the plot was super creative and very refreshing to read. I love superheroes and the people who write about them or things related to them seem to have to most amazing skills to bring that world to light and this book was no exception I would highly recommend this book to anyone. Also, revenge is a side plot and well I always kind of love revenge stories.

I have so much love for this book. I love how descriptive it was when we were experiencing Scarletts emotions. There were a few things I didn't like or didn't understand. I didn't like how long it took for Scarlett to stand up for herself. I also didn't understand how some of the magic worked in certain places but then didn't work the same in other places. I dont feel like these took away to much from the story though to love it.

Autummmmmm It feels like Caraval took place over a long amount of time but I think, considering it was only 5 days (6 including the party) that she actually grew immensely and quickly. Also, it was stated that the magic was dependent on many things such as mood, desires, and whatnot so, that could explain why different magic worked differently in differently places. 10mo

Lies we tell ourselves is a book of rights. Not just those of black individuals also a hint of rights for those in the LGBTQ community. This takes a hard look at what integration in a school in the south looked like for 8 kids just trying to get what they should be entitled to. I say it's ok because I feel the relationship that is in the book is a bit forced taking away from the rest of the story which made me not interested in finishing this book.

Sadie is out to find her sisters killer. Sadie and the cast of characters in this book are brought to life and it makes you feel as you know them. Told in various points of view it switches from Sadie herself to that of a pod cast with people. It stretches over a years time of Sadie looking to kill a man she believes murdered her sister and what happens after. This book was one I didn't want to put down and the writing made it so easy.
