so-soSquidapus kept waiting for the other shoe to drop...and it never did. While an engaging book, the big weakness is that it plays everything completely straight. It didn't do anything new or interesting regarding super heroes and the entire time it had a tension of a reveal or switch that would take all the tropes it was using and turn them on their heads. But then it didn't. So in the end all Squidapus got was a competent but by the numbers book
so-soIt doesn't break any new ground when it comes to the deconstruction of superhero fiction, but the occasional funny moments help keep the entertainment value of this novel afloat.

Another great #Audible haul with the 2-for-1 credit ???????!!! So, "The King In Yellow" is supposed to be a classic iconic horror book of stories, & its narrator sound fantastic! And there's "Soon I Will Be Invincible", which seems to be a refreshing take on the super hero/comic book template; again, narrator sounds amazing & perfect for the book ???????! Can't wait to dig into these #audio books ???! #blameLitsy #blameMrBook ?
so-soPretty standard superhero fare. Seems like it's pulled right out of the Golden Age of comics. The good guys are so good, the bad guys want to take over the world, the one character who seemed more fluid was covered very little. Ah, well.
Reading this one because I heard it was a favorite of Rainbow Rowell. I hope her taste in reading is on par with her writing skills!
After I finish this audiobook, I'll be checking out this new benefit from Amazon prime! Super excited!
