Equal parts steamy and funny, with a few genuinely creepy moments, this paranormal romance has everything -- compelling characters, plenty of witty banter, and a romance that just might be to die for.

The female MC in this YA-Twilight-ish novel loves #fashion. She makes her own dresses. (That's as much as I remember about this book.)

#SeptemBowie @Marchpane @Cinfhen

Cinfhen I guess that counts for something 💗usually when I remember nothing from a book it's not a good sign😬 7y
julesG @Cinfhen Wasn't a very interesting book. Book two was worse and I am not going to read book 3. 7y
Marchpane The title is fashion-y too! 7y

My Rating – ★★★★☆

My interest in this book began with the simple elegant cover. It was illusive and mysterious while at the same time it drew me in. I knew it had to be some kind of paranormal type book, but when I read the back cover, I knew I had to have it. ...

As you can see, I've already moved on to the sequel.

The first half of Velvet was soooo close to Twilight, I wanted to bail, but then it got interesting.

It's not high-class literature, it's rather run-of-the-mill. It had bland dialogue, some corny dialogue and some really good dialogue.
All in all, 3 stars out of 5.

As for the sequel, got it through NetGalley and I would like to know how this goes on, bad copy-editing included.

Wrong word, isn't it?

TheKidUpstairs Yup. I find ebooks often have more typos than print books. Or maybe I notice them more? 7y
julesG @TheKidUpstairs I spot typos in print books, too. Sometimes I can't hold back and even mark them. 🙈 7y

Sace Egads! That hurts my eyes. 7y
Gissy I checked an it says it's a noun. It seems the word exists 7y
julesG @Gissy Yep, the word exists but, as you have found already, it doesn't fit grammatically. Not to mention it has a different meaning. The word that should be in the text is: confident. 7y
Gissy Ooohhh 😮! 7y

The female MC just turned 17 that counts as #EdgeOfSeventeen.

#RockinMay @Cinfhen

Still very much Twilight just a different sort of vampire and a different threat. 😉

Cinfhen I'm discovering lots of teen vampires today 😂 7y
julesG @Cinfhen There are so many YA vampires out there. 🙈 7y
DGRachel @Cinfhen @julesG Who knew it was so dangerous to be a modern teenager? 😂😂😂 7y

Sipping my Latte I nearly spluttered into it when I came across Harry Potter references in this novel.

It's a YA vampire novel, very "Twilight-ish", which makes it slightly bland.

Why do YA vampire books all have to follow the same plot plan?

Gissy Let us know if you like it. Sounds interesting 7y
