“Dogs speak words. But only poets and children / hear.“
Patricia MacLachlan's 'The Poet's Dog' is a tender and lyrical story about the bond between a dog and two children stranded in a snowstorm. Its poetic prose explores themes of friendship, loss, and the healing power of words, making it an emotionally resonant choice for classroom readings. This book can be used to teach about the emotional impact of literature, the use of symbolism, and the connections between animals and humans.
This book felt special to read. A story you‘ll want to share with those you love. I‘ll be thinking about it for a long time!
I went to the bookstore looking for Sarah, Plain and Tall .... came home with that and this (plus a couple others — I had time to kill).
Bought this from a book store close to my house, absolutely loved it ! 😊
I've been reading a lot of middle grade lately and that can often mean a #shortbook. These two by Patricia MacLachlan are on my TBR for winter and Christmas. #30daysofreadathon
I have a feeling some tears might be shed while reading this even though it's a short children's book.
Finally got around to downloading overdrive and figuring out how to borrow audiobooks from the library. My son and I listened to this short book in the car this morning on the way to drop him off with the grandparents for a week. Amazing!! ❤️ We both loved this story of a dog with words who rescues two children. Beautiful story that I recommend for all ages and the audio was wonderfully read as well. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 #raisingreaders #kidlit #audiobook
A little shout out to the dogs and cats and other pets of Litsy, whose images brighten these pages! #dogsoflitsy #catsoflitsy #petsoflitsy Courtesy of Teddy the Dog!
Finished this one this morning while still laying in bed it was wonderful. The book was sweet from beginning to end. #litsyatoz
From Newbery Medal winner Patricia MacLachlan comes a poignant story about two children, a poet, and a dog, and how they help each other survive loss and recapture love. #CopperfieldsRecommends
Have you ever seen a more lovely cover? I couldn't not read this immediately. The illustration perfectly compliments the words.
