Art restorer Emily Price has never encountered anything she can t fix until she meets Ben, an Italian chef, who seems just right. When Emily follows Ben home to Italy, she learns that his family, however, is another matter . . . Emily Price fix-it girl extraordinaire and would-be artist finds herself in Atlanta, repairing objects damaged in a house fire. As she works to restore the home and dreams of one family, she strives to keep the pieces of her own life in perfect order and secure her own happy ending a gallery show of her own. There is no time for distractions, especially not the ultimate distraction of falling in love. But Chef Benito Vassallo s relentless pursuit proves hard to resist. Visiting from Italy, Ben works to reconnect with his brother and breathe new life into his aunt and uncle s faded restaurant, Piccolo. And soon after their first meeting, he works to win Emily as well inviting her into his world and into his heart. Emily astonishes everyone when she accepts Ben s proposal and follows him home. Upon landing in Rome, she is enchanted with Italy. But instead of allowing the land, culture and people to transform her, Emily imposes her will upon everyone and everything around her, alienating Ben s tightly knit family. Only Ben s father, Lucio, gives Emily the understanding she needs to lay down her guard. Soon, Emily s life and art begin to blossom, and Italy s beauty and rhythm take hold of her spirit. Yet when she unearths long-buried family secrets, Emily wonders if she really fits into Ben s world. Will the joys of Italy become just a memory, or will Emily share in the freedom and grace that her life with Ben has shown her are possible?"

I can't say I loved this since it contributed to my readng lull. Overall, the story was okay, but it didn't come off as believeable.

Even though this book has nothing to do with New York, it came to mind for #NewYorkMinute because the romance develops so quickly, leading to some drastic changes in Emily's life—it's a delight to read, full of art and Italian food, and one of my favorites from last year. #RockinMay

I am burning through books lately! Let's hope the streak continues with this one. Should be a fun, light read if other Reay books I've read are any indication.

While I originally thought this was going to be one of those romances that tries to make you believe in love at first sight, it quickly turned into a story of the struggles of family obligations, forgiveness, and accepting that sometimes you can't fix everything. If you're a fan of romance novels, Italian food, art, and complicated family dynamics, you'll likely enjoy this book.

Another find at ALA. This is a sunny romance about an art restorer who falls in love with an Italian on a business trip and follows him back to Italy. It wasn't really my style and the plot didn't quite work for me, but it was well written. I think the book took too long to make the jump to Italy and the part in Italy felt too rushed. I did love reading about the Italian food in the book, ha ha. ;)

Happy New Year's Day! For today's soup I wanted some quick, easy & brothy so I adapted a Giada De Laurentiiis recipe from The Food Network and made this Spinach & Cheese Tortelloni in Light Broth using my homemade Garlic-Parmesan brodo. Light but satisfying, it completely hit the spot for lunch, paired with this library read from my TBR stack. The recipe & my variations are on the blog (link👇🏼). #soupersundays 📚❤️🍲

The perfect book at the perfect time. Deep characters. Very relatable. Art restorer with a eye for detail misses the forest for the trees when her whirlwind marriage changes her location. About finding your place - in family and in life.
