Started so slow I almost gave up on it. Glad I didnt, it blew me away by about chapter three.
I know that many people really love this trilogy. But somehow I didn't end up loving it.
I found Helen to be really annoying and it's always difficult to read a book when you can't stand the protagonist.
The 'love story' between Helen and Lucas felt forced so I didn't care whether they would end up together or not.
And overall I feel like this trilogy could have been finished within two books.
4/10 🌟
An easy read, good for heavy days if you don't want to think much. Sometimes the seesaw between the two main characters and the whole family feud are a bit confusing. I think it was meant to be a greek mythology version of Twilight.

Love this quote from author Josephine Angelini from her appearance on the podcast "First Draft with Sarah Enni" about choosing to pursue your art professionally. Beautifully sums up the internal struggle of many writers.
"What you love the most is the source of your greatest anxiety." Josephine Angelini (Author of the Starcrossed Trilogy)
Also, "First Draft" is a great YA podcast, so check it out.

I normally avoid books with links to Greek mythology, not really my thing but I couldn't ignore the reviews on this one any longer. I really enjoyed this book. I just loved the whole instant hate dynamic between Helen and Lucas followed by life saving, lots of hand holding and an ending that's oh so frustrating, it was a teeny bit predictable in places but it didn't stop me enjoying it, it's very addictive.
New current read. However, it is a second hand copy and it STINKS! I've never had this before... Anyone else?
Ooh I see it's #FunPhotoFriday day. Q: What do you like to read? I mostly like to read YA para romances but also fiction based on Greek mythology, romance, horror & dystopian. This book in particular, Starcrossed, is a YA series centred around Greek mythology set in today's times. Such a fab series!
