Undesired: A Thriller
Undesired: A Thriller | Yrsa Sigurdardottir
Aldis hates her job working in a juvenile detention center in rural Iceland. The boys are difficult, the owners are unpleasant, and there are mysterious noises at night. And then two of the boys go astray . . .Decades later, single father Odinn is looking into alleged abuse at the center. The more he finds out, though, the more it seems the odd events of the 1970s are linked to the accident that killed his ex-wife. Was her death something more sinister?Yrsa Sigurdardottir is a huge European bestseller both with her crime and horror novels. You might want to sleep with the light on after reading The Undesired. . .

Perfect way to start vacation - finishing a book! Set in Iceland and alternating between the past and present, this is a fabulous psychological thriller. This quote - repeated twice in the last pages sums up the book and makes you think. “Someone always gets punished when a crime is committed, but not always the guilty party.”

#TBRtemptation post! A sinister thriller for all Yrsa fans ( @Eyglo ?) has made its way here! Aldis works at a juvenile detention center in rural Iceland. She witnesses something deeply disturbing. Soon thereafter, 2 of the center's boys are dead. Decades later, Odinn looks into alleged abuse at the center, picking up the case after his colleague is killed while running the investigation. Death is darkly linked. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

LeahBergen Thanks for the epic catch-up on my posts! 😂😂 8y
MrBook @LeahBergen 😉👍🏻 8y
Eyglo Thanks for tagging me @MrBook ! Yrsa is amazing (and I'm not just saying that because she's a friend of mine) ? I have to admit though that I haven't read The Undesired yet...my favorite of her's is I Remember You - one of those "store in the freezer while I sleep" kinda book? 8y

MrBook @Eyglo You're friends with her 😳 *blink blink*!!! You're amazing! You and @BookBabe are definitely #KindredSpirits. 8y
Eyglo Haha yes - combination of luck and a small population 😊 but nonetheless she is such a cool person!! If for some amazing reason you are ever in Iceland, I will def introduce you to her 🖖 Sorry but my english is not perfect + I follow @BookBabe (and love her account) but I can't quite grasp the meaning of Kindred Spirits 😋 Do we have something in common? Or are we just both extremely cool persons? 😉 @MrBook 8y
MrBook @Eyglo Thanks! We plan to. Yours is considered one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Kindred Spirits means something like very similar in mind and personality as to be a natural complement to one another. 8y
Eyglo @MrBook Yeah I can't say I disagree. Iceland is very beautiful in it's own way. The landscape can be a bit too raw sometimes and I miss having forrests but it's unique 😊 Thanks for the kind words! @BookBabe seems to be a great person 👌 8y
MrBook @Eyglo @BookBabe 's the best person! For me anyway ☺️👌🏻. 8y

❄️❄️❄️ This book was a bit frustrating for me and the ending wasn't satisfying. I'm just not really sure what to think about it.

ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Well, that cover would certainly hook anyone!! 8y
Foxyfictionista @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled.com Yes, I really like the cover and the premise sounded interesting. It moved at a slow pace and the payoff wasn't satisfying. Ah well...on to the next one! 8y

Starting this tonight. I love a bit of Nordic Noir and it's one of my dreams to visit Iceland.
