The Regatta Mystery And Other Stories | Agatha Christie
16 posts | 25 read | 11 to read
There's a body in a trunk; a dead girl's reflection is caught in a mirror; and one corpse is back from the grave, while another is envisioned in the recurring nightmare of a terrified eccentric. What's behind such ghastly misdeeds? Try money, revenge, passion, and pleasure. With multiple motives, multiple victims, and multiple suspects, it's going to take a multitude of talent to solve these clever crimes. In this inviting collection, Agatha Christie enlists the services of her finestHercule Poirot, Miss Marple, and Parker Pyneand puts them each to the test in the most challenging cases of their careers.

This is the 15th Agatha Christie book I‘ve read. Some novels, and some collections like this. These were clever. Two I actually had figured out, which I enjoy of course. #scarathlon

I liked these 9 stories featuring Poirot, Miss Marple, & Parker Pyne. Most of them are Poirot mysteries. A little easier to play armchair detective because the length means not as many red herrings. #scarathlon #teamslaughter @Clwojick 136 points

Clwojick Oooo. I need to see if this on is available with my library. 4y
Scochrane26 @Clwojick There‘s several collections of short stories, so I picked what was available. It‘s a pretty fast read. 4y

Definitely one of my favourite collections of short stories from Agatha Christie. Each was a great little tale!

More short stories from Agatha Christie, this time featuring not only Poirot but Miss Marple and Parker Pyne too! I‘ve never read anything featuring Pyne so I enjoyed his cases particularly.

Mehso-so

Probably more of a so-so than a pick. This isn't one of the Christies I would make a habit of re-reading. That said, I did inadvertently re-read it because two of the stories appear in The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding.

Mehso-so

Whew those early Poirot stories are r a c i s t as f. Ugh. The Parker Pyne ones are interesting, and I had quite forgotten him. The Marple one remains decent. Overall, meh.

Enjoyable book of short stories featuring Hercule Poirot, Miss Markle, and Parker Pyne. My only complaint - the short stories were so....short.

Skeebies05 This reminds me of old classic movies. They did a lot of slapping of women. 😬😬 6y

"What are the years from twenty to forty? Fettered and bound by personal and emotional relationships. That's bound to be. That's living. But later there's a new stage. [...] No man or woman is actually himself (or herself) till after forty-five. That's when individuality has a chance."

? I never thought about aging quite like that. I'd like to hope to give individuality a chance sooner.

Tea and Agatha Christie - it doesn't really get better than that.

lifeless1 Someone's getting their Brit on today! 😉 8y
Sophieneechan @lifeless1 I've always got my Brit on 😂I grew up with Agatha Christie, so now I'm just reading through all of her books that I haven't read yet (and some that I have, but just want to re-read) ☺ 8y

As they talked, her eye met that of Mr. Parker Pyne. It passed over him with well-bred nonchalance, but he knew that he had been assimilated and labeled.
