🤦🏽‍♀️Came home to this remnant of my vintage Agatha Christie novel. I don't think Agatha Christie was prepared for the likes of a super villain like Gatsby.

I saved the Littens from the raw, carnage photo of the fresh murder scene. ☠️📖☠️#RIPBook

My_novel_obsession 😳oh dear! But what a face!!! (edited) 7y
batsy Oh no! Look at that face! Too cute! But oh God not a vintage Christie! *so many feelings* 7y
britt_brooke 😱😱😱 But look how cute! 💚 7y
BostonBookAddict But look at that face! So adorable! And I am saying that because that is not my dog. If it was I would not be happy with him lol 7y
GRThomas2014 Oh dear... naughty pup 😱😂 7y
LaraReads Oh no! But look at that sweet face! How do you punish that?! 7y
LeahBergen Oh no! 😂 7y
Leftcoastzen Love his name!😃 7y
ValerieAndBooks Oh no!! Many feel that the Tommy and Tuppence books are inferior Christies; Gatsby must agree (but he went overboard with that sentiment 😱)! 7y
Rachel_R._Smith Oh no! The Tommy and Tuppence novels are among my favorites of hers! Good taste Gatsby, but when we talk about devouring novels, we don't mean it literally! 😭 7y
Louise This reminds me of Mark Strand's lovely poem "Eating Poetry": I. . . bark. I romp with joy in the bookish dark! ? 7y
Izai.Amorim Oh boy, your dog would make a great literary critic, this ability to tear up a book and still look so innocent 😇 7y
elliemcc11 Oh No! He does look sort of "sorry mum, didn't mean it" ? 7y

At least he left the pile of library books next to it alone! That would have been pricey! This was the first time he has ever destroyed a book though.. ??‍♀️ 7y
Jess_Read_This @LaraReads He's so sensitive just having a disapproving tone of voice makes him run from the room... I can never stay irritated long with him. He's such a sweetie. 7y
Jess_Read_This @ValerieAndBooks He's got discerning tastes apparently... 😳 I guess he thought I needn't bother with that one! 7y
Jess_Read_This @Rachel_R._Smith He definitely has it out for Tommy and Tuppence! 7y
Jess_Read_This @Louise Ha!! 😂Much romping was done while I was at work. 7y
Jess_Read_This @Izai.Amorim I'm sure all the great publishing houses will line up to see if their books pass his "Book Survivor Test" ? 7y

"What are the years from twenty to forty? Fettered and bound by personal and emotional relationships. That's bound to be. That's living. But later there's a new stage. [...] No man or woman is actually himself (or herself) till after forty-five. That's when individuality has a chance."

? I never thought about aging quite like that. I'd like to hope to give individuality a chance sooner.

?Poirot is just magnificent.?

Cathythoughts We just read Evil Under The Sun for our Bookclub. And planning a trip to the cinema for Murder On The Orient Express. I believe Ragnar Jonasson is very inspired by Agatha ( makes perfect sense) trapped by snow ❄️❄️❄️ 8y
thebookdiviner I've only read a couple of Christie's books (and loved them) but I absolutely adore the Poirot movies 8y
Jess_Read_This @erzascarletbookgasm Thank you! Can you believe the bottom box was given to me by a coworker from her mother's book collection? And the top box I found still sealed at a thrift store for $.40?!!! (edited) 8y
Jess_Read_This @Cathythoughts How neat! Your bookclub sounds like a great one to be a part of! Jonasson is definitely inspired by Agatha Christie- I see similar elements in plot craftsmanship. He translates her books into Icelandic. I read an interview where he said it can be a struggle at time to translate because some words in her books do not have an Icelandic equivalent. So interesting! 8y
Jess_Read_This @thebookdiviner I'm still a relative Agatha Christie newbie and haven't read nearly all her stuff. I love the movies though too and the Masterpiece Miss Marples! 8y
Cinfhen I know there are tons of Littens drooling right now 😉💕 8y
elliemcc11 I need to take a photo of my vintage Christie collection. I went through a stage of collecting very specific ones in terms of the graphics on the front cover. 8y

Per Kirkus Reviews: "One of the best of the Tolefree tales. Mystery within mystery, all centering around a cryptogram, the murder of the wrong man, a gang of counterfeiters, and so on."

?This sounds like a #WhoDunitWednesday read I can get behind. I initially bought it based on the title and cover alone. ?

Pickpick

My poor book took a bath 😟🛀...this is the first book I've read in ages because I keep 😴 including in the bath which meant my book took a dunking 😣

Review - Sophie finds herself in a crime scene with no recollection of what she's done. She goes on the run and hatches a plan to marry and change her name. Little does she know that the man she strikes an online relationship with has secrets of his own, and is closer to her than she realises.

Jess_Read_This Oh no!! 8y
elliemcc11 Soggy mess! 8y
elliemcc11 "Including in the bath" read as "dozing in the bath" #stupidautocorrect 8y
Jess_Read_This @elliemcc11 AC gets me every time too. But I do think a bath sounds most relaxing! 8y
