WITH AN INTRODUCTION BY A. N. WILSON Throughout these seventy-nine stories - love stories, ghost stories, stories of childhood, of English middle-class life in the twenties and thirties, of London during the Blitz - Elizabeth Bowen combines social comedy and reportage, perception and vision in an oeuvre which reveals, as Angus Wilson affirms in his introduction, that 'the instinctive artist is there at the very heart of her work'.

On June 7th 1899 , Elizabeth Bowen was born. I‘ve read a couple of her books , The House in Paris maybe another one.🤔Some of her books were reprinted in Virago editions, I don‘t have any of those & I haven‘t read this short story collection.

Elizabeth Bowen believes in ghosts. Her short story The Demon Lover is a free read, audio too, at Reading Fiction Blog. Have you experienced this famous author? PaulaCappaDOTwordpressDOTcom #freereading #freeshortstories #wednesdayrecommends
