I know this is a memoir, but it‘s a history book, as well. Clint Hill is the secret service agent that was assigned to Jacqueline Kennedy. He is the man you might recall who jumps onto the back of the convertible to push Mrs Kennedy back to safety. …It is so interesting to have his record of this historical time. A great read for the the 4th!

“For the important position of attorney general, President Kennedy announced that he was appointing his brother Bobby... his only government experience was as counsel of the Senate Rackets Committee. It was the first time in U.S. history that a president or president-elect had chosen a brother for his cabinet. While it was not illegal, the decision certainly raised eyebrows throughout the political arena.”
Absolutely loved this book! I am a big history buff and especially anything to do with JFK & Jackie. #audiobooks
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author, Clint Hill, is from a small town in North Dakota, about 30 miles from where I live and grew up. I have always admired Jackie Kennedy for her intelligence, grace and style. Clint Hill‘s life and career are an inspiration. I have read all of his books and applaud each one! 🇺🇸
In honor of the date, I‘ve elected to share some of my favorite books about JFK. 11/22/63 is fictional, and one of my favorite books. I‘m not typically a huge King fan, but this is an exception. The Bugliosi book is a very comprehensive book about the assassination and its aftermath. The other two are memoirs and give good insight into the Kennedy lifestyle.
@Priceless and I got to meet Clint Hill & Lisa McCubbin today at their book signing and discussion.
It was great hearing them speak. His account of 11/22/63 and the days immediately following was incredible and chilling.
I have so many words, and yet I'm speechless. I've read Mr. Hill's other two books and yet this one still made me cry. My heart breaks for the pain this man endured for decades after the assassination of JFK and the guilt he felt all this time. The Kennedy family has had the worst luck and it's so heartbreaking to read about the worst day of their lives. Highly recommend this book. Stay tuned for a full review on the blog! Link in bio!
No matter how many times I read about this day, I'm still never ready to read about it again.
Noooooo!!!!! I always hate when I get to this part of one of Clint Hill's books. You know what's about to happen but you can't stop it from happening.
This was really good. I've read a few books about JFK but this one focused on Jackie and her life. I shed a few tears...
Clint Hill was a secret service agent in charge of protecting Mrs Kennedy during the three years of JFK's presidency. This memoir begins in 1960 when the two first meet and leads all the way to JFK's assassination. Clint Hill can be seen in this picture leaping on to the president's car just seconds after the fatal shots. I was born 20 years after the assassination, but it haunts me. It has been over 50 years ago, but grief and tragedy remain.
Reading this on my overdrive app and I just read the chapter where baby Patrick was born and passed away. I couldn't stop the tears. So incredibly heartbreaking, especially knowing what will happen three months later. 💔💔💔
Had an interesting discussion yesterday at my book club about this book. One thing is the lack of a home life the Secret Service agents experienced.
