NerdyRev

Not a book quote, but the title reflects my feelings. In my sermon, I joked that I was known to read a book or two. Then continued to talk about my new love for mysteries. Following the service, at least 9, of my members said they don't read! Not in like can't read, but simply don't and don't like to. Not going to lie, I wanted to cry a bit.

OneLitChick They just haven't found the right book... 7y
Libby1 I absolutely agree, @OneLitChick ! 7y
drokka Maybe it's the format. Would they be open to audiobooks? My brother can't stand the function (for lack of a better term) of reading, but he loves listening to stories. 7y
NerdyRev I am in a small city in NY, but is equivalent to a small rural town in that most lived their entire lives here and ever left. While it was heartbreaking to hear, it also was not surprising as most didn't go past HS, which is not a bad thing, but there wasn't a need to expand horizons even with lit. It was interesting feedback 7y

It's been a few years since the Event that decimated New York and enabled ghostly images to walk among the living, but little else has changed in society. Veronica goes to high school, works at the movie theater, and goes on dates, stopping by the breakfast table every morning to see her father's ghost. But a new teen boy ghost appears in her bathroom and a murderer decides the day to claim his next victim (Veronica) approaches - weird but good!

Have you seen all the books that are being made into movies next year. Yikes.

Varshitha Thank you.. Adding all this to my TBR as well😁 7y
Bambolina_81 I didn't realise they were making Wonder. I use that as a class reader so my students will enjoy that 😁 7y
LibrarianRyan @Bambolina_81 it's been on my list to read for a while. As you can tell I like lists. I sprang a lot of time making lists yesterday. Slow day at work. 7y

JackieSmith I am already disappointed with the movie All the Bright Places. How is it possible to turn that style & structure into a movie? 😞 Some books are better left only being books. 7y
MeganAnn They are finally making a movie of this?!?!?! I thought this would make such a great movie when I first read it years ago. I'm totally fangirling right now.... 😱🎉 (edited) 7y
LibrarianRyan @JackieSmith I don't know. Not read the book. But I wonder about a lot of books that make it to movies. 7y
LibrarianRyan @MeganAnn it's slated early 2018 right now. That what the + on my list mean. Maybe late 2017-2018. 7y
ScrappyMags Thank GOD! I'm not a fan of all the remakes... Dirty Dancing? Footloose? Ben-hur? Sacrilege!! Make good movies from good books ANY day 💗💗 7y
LeahBergen Whoa! I didn't know about a lot of these. 7y
