It took me all the month of August and then some to read this bind up of Frame‘s three volumes of autobiography. Her writing demanded my close attention. What I loved most about Frame‘s life was her passion for discovery, despite her crippling shyness and her love of language. I don‘t know if I will try her fiction but I really must, mustn‘t I?

Remembering Janet Frame on her birthday.

Loved the story of Jane‘s life growing up to the point she returned to NZ at 40ish yrs. Such a great memory and way with words to bring it to life. Resonated with her feelings of confusion moving to London and joy of travel. Fascinating to read about Life in NZ at that time. Similar generation to my great grandparents.
