#NotBookRelated but I just had to share our back to school pics. Beckham is starting his last year of high school (even though he will be taking all of his classes at Ohio State University) and Keegan is starting his first year of high school (even though he had classes there last year.) Keegan got hurt in his soccer scrimmage last night and is on crutches for his first day back. He is questionable for his first game on Saturday but we‘re hopeful

rretzler @Leftcoastzen Thanks. I think it‘s just a bruised hip. The team has really great trainers and Keegan can be inclined to milk things a little, but I think he‘ll be back to normal soon. We‘ve been very fortunate so far! (Tempted to knock on wood at this point) (edited) 5y

Tom Brown's schooldays | Thomas Hughes

Took a #drive yesterday to visit this incredible public #library, which opened in Rugby, Tennessee in1882 as part of Thomas Hughes's dream of a utopian community. All but 6 of the original 7000 books & all furnishings remain. Volunteers dust & clean them every 4 or 5 years & will sit with anyone who wishes to do research (gloves are provided). A fascinating piece of #history amidst the wilderness. historicrugby.org

lynneamch The founder of the town is the same person who wrote the tagged book. He named the town Rugby in honor of his English boarding school of which he writes in this semi-autobiographical novel. I'm skimming it as it is free on Kindle. I see @brilliantglow has a beautiful hardcover copy. The town has a couple of charming gift shops with many old books, very reasonably priced. 7y

brilliantglow That's really cool! I haven't actually read my copy but it was a pretty great find at the Goodwill Bookstore. My mom actually owns an older copy too and he's was bound upside down in the cover. 7y
