I finished it!! I found this difficult to get through, and for the first time I can say I liked the movie better than the book. I'm glad I read it though!

As a teenager i had crushes on the classic three Hardy heroines Eustacia Vye, Bathsheba Everdene, and Tess. Not sure if its ever gone away.
We learn that it is not the rays which bodies absorb, but those which they reject, that give them the colours they are known by; and in the same way people are specialized by their dislikes and antagonisms, whilst their goodwill is looked upon as no attribute at all.
This may be the very first book I've dnfed for real. I just couldn't keep pushing through the snooze fest that this book was. I cared for the female lead at first but by the time I reached maybe half of the book I couldn't bother anymore.
