Camp So-and-So
Camp So-and-So | Mary McCoy
12 posts | 7 read | 2 reading | 11 to read
The letters went out in mid-February. Each letter invited its recipient to spend a week at Camp So-and-So, a lakeside retreat for girls nestled high in the Starveling Mountains. Each letter came with a glossy brochure with photographs of young women climbing rocks, performing Shakespeare under the stars, and spiking volleyballs. By the end of the month, twenty-five applications had been completed, signed, and mailed. Had any of these girls tried to visit the camp for themselves on that day in February, they would have discovered that there was no such mountain, and that no one within a fifty-mile radius had ever heard of Camp So-and-So . . .

Camp So-and-So is told through an omniscient narrator‘s voice and follows 5 cabins of girl campers at a camp that‘s not really a camp. That‘s really all you need to know or would want to know so that everything else can be a surprise. This is a Young Adult horror novel so it wasn‘t super scary or gory and read pretty quickly, although by 60% through the book I was ready for the story to conclude. #YA #Horror #CampSetting

This is a wonderfully strange book full of fantasy and magic. It wasn‘t what I expected but I certainly enjoyed it.

I loved the concept and was getting a really fun Cabin in the Woods vibe at first.
The ending wasn't totally satisfying though.
