I loved the first book and re-read it before starting this one.In Majesty,, Bee is the Queen of America, and we see her mature into the job. I feel like this story is incredibly timely as it addresses Racism, the Press in this country, and women's leadership roles.

The history geek in me adored this alternate timeline of America.

Started reading this aloud, kinda sad that there will be 2 yeara before the next illustrated edition.

I got Katniss Everdeen! My very favorite. Time for a re-read.

Zoey's lifestyle(in rural Vermont) is one shared by (probably) millions of US kids today and that in itself is heartbreaking. Let's put it this way if you placed these characters in any other urban area it all plays out the same. I think this paired with anything by Jason Reynolds or Angie Thomas would make for some interesting discussions on social justice in the US and or how we can help those around us who are struggling.

This book is as Southern as sweet tea and that trademark honesty that I imagine all southerners have. I wish I had read a book like this as a kid. In the 70's and 80's all of tv and books contained "normal" families (except for After School Specials) and all kids can benefit from knowing that all families have challenges and that reaching out to friends and family will help.

While reading, I had the same thoughts that you get watching a horror movie; I adore that anticipatory lump in my throat as you mentally prepare for a good jump scare. You know, how you start to suspect one thing and then something worse happens? That's this book- delightfully creepy.

I'm 37% into this book and am spellbound. It never ceases to amaze me how we as humans can normalize any situation.

I have a love-hate relationship with social media. For me to drives people to read my reviews. I struggle with being too wrapped up in getting a good book picture for Bookstagram and at the same time not caring at all. So I identified with Mari at the beginning of the story. As a teenager, she has gotten in way over her head leading an "internet" life. She makes some changes after she unplugs. One of the best YA titles this Summer.

This review made it into the rotation, double booked just under the wire of my move. I'm so glad it did. Greg is a regular (sort of introverted) Chicago kid. He has one friend, he loves his Dad, he loves food, all is pretty okay in his world. I know the city pretty well and this story is spot on geographically correct, I know LOTR and the plotline about Elves and Dwarves was awesome!
I bought the Audible version before I was done reading the book.

It all makes sense now. In fact, it explains so much.

I'm usually the first person to shoot Disney the side-eye when they seemingly cash in on sequels. I've got to say that this is one I accepted from the get go. It's actually two books in one, the original and the all new sequel that features the same town and family twenty years later. I'm a hocus pocus fan and I loved it.

First up in my "I read what I want to Summer" The Book of Essie by @meghanmacleanweir. I started it yesterday afternoon finished it this morning. A fictional peek into a world like The Duggars, where everything is planned and plotted to look good for the cameras. I loved the alternating narrators by chapter. A complete home run for my first book purchase of the Summer. Plus, I found it here! Thanks random Litsyer!

Exactly the kind of Dad jokes I hoped for in this spectacular fan fiction. I'm 7% in and if you loved the Obama/Biden memes you will love this story.

I read this a an E-ARC. I liked Adrienne, I found her to be smart and resourceful in several reasonably terrifyingly horrible situations.

Reading Hocus Pocus was fine- just like the movie. But, the sequel- sooo good. I'm enjoying it. It'll be the perfect Fall read.

Made the permanant switch from Goodreads over to Litsy. I could have definetely used some mindful breathing as I dealt with harassment over there.

I think this story could be an instant classic for the right sort of reader. It's a bit like Coraline, Howl's Moving Castle and Alice in Wonderland. Cecilia plunges in the Land of Yesterday desperately trying to put her family back together.
I'd give it a million stars.

This is the sequel to A Dash of Dragon. The magic of cooking is so fun in this one!

Like all of Avi's books this one puts you right back in time making you feel what it was like to live long ago. In Patryck's small Polish village the Russians have taken over everything. The school was bombed and people are on edge. Things get worse when the Russians leave and the Germans arrive.
This is World War 1 through the eyes of a 12yo boy.

I can't believe I took so long to get around to reading this. It's tremendously awesome. I think this series will be super popular with MG readers. Creative, exciting, just fun.

Did you love World War Z? Are you familiar with Minecraft? This is the best read aloud for you and your middle graders. I love it.

Book haul day 1 of ALA. I was choosy and didnt take every book offered to me. Still, my TBR pile is enormous now.

This is laugh out loud funny. It's always great to learn while having fun.

I bailed at 29% at the word tragichuckled. I wanted to love it, but did not.
