Pickpick

Apparently this month RNG decided that I should deep dive into snow queen reimaginings. I really liked this as it‘s definitely a sci fi take with technology taking the place of the more traditional magic. I know there‘s two other works in this world but I feel like there was definitely a resolution and not a real cliffhanger. But I did enjoy it enough to read on.

Taking advantage of our covered driveway to enjoy real life rain sounds as I start the tagged book.

HeyT I lasted an hour before I got too cold. I would never survive on the East Coast. lol 2y

Yesterday‘s book mail. I‘ve been wanting a copy of the snow queen since I bought it for someone else. My back order finally came in. It‘s classic sci-if with a fairy tale retelling of course. It was reprinted in 2015 for its 25th anniversary.

What big teeth was a claim from Bookish First. I am in love with the cover. I think it‘s out next month.

This is between a pick and a so-so. It was a little on the long side and everyone‘s journey seemed to drag a bit, but I felt like Moon had to go on such a journey to learn her purpose and so we could see different parts of the world. It was definitely an interesting read and now I have to go read the Hans Christian Anderson tale.

Deifio I haven't been reading along with sword&laser in ages! I hope to get started again with the March pick 4y
Laughterhp @Deifio I don‘t always read along. Only when the book catches my eye and seems like I‘ll enjoy it. 4y

A very fitting read for the weather today.

You can‘t really tell by the picture, but we are having our first snow today. It was raining earlier, but it changed to snow about 2 hours ago. I don‘t think it‘s going to stick though.

This is the current pick for the #swordandlaser Podcast. Someone also recommended this book to me on Litsy, but I don‘t remember who!

this was on my giant list of fantasy and scifi by women. it has been slow getting started but maybe is picking up?

it‘s an interesting world if we can get away from the love sick teenagers and see it.

I'm glad THE SNOW QUEEN came back into print last year so I can rec it more widely! It's the start of my favourite SF series, which mostly takes place on a planet so far away from everything else that it's only accessible when its progression brings it close to a particular wormhole. #maybookflowers #inagalaxyfarfaraway

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Always wanted to read these. I'm currently reading A Fire Upon the Deep by her ex-husband Vernor. 7y
xicanti @TobeyTheScavengerMonk another great one. 7y

Even though I'm too late to officially participate in #booktober's science fiction day, I've gotta do a shout-out to my favourite SF series. I'm glad THE SNOW QUEEN is back in print so I can routinely urge people to either buy it or ask their library to do so.
