Aidan Cain has had the worst week of his life. His gran died, he was sent to a foster home, and now malicious beings are stalking him. There is one person Gran told Aidan to go to if he ever got into troublea powerful sorcerer who lives at Melstone House. But when Aidan arrives on the doorstep, he finds that the sorcerer's grandson, Andrew, has inherited the house. The good news is that Aidan can tell immediately that Andrew's brimming with magic, tooand so is everyone else at Melstone. The bad news is that Andrew doesn't remember anything his grandfather taught him. Chaos is swiftly rising, and he has no idea how to control it. A sinister neighbor is stealing power from the land, magic is leaking between realms . . . and it's only a matter of time before the Stalkers find Aidan. If Aidan and Andrew can harness their own magics, they may be able to help each other. But can they do it before the entire countryside comes apart at the seams?

I‘m ready to leave January behind! It‘s been a stressful month with not enough reading hours. I did finish both my #BookSpin & #DoubkeSpin and 2 others but not enough for a #BookSpinBingo - will try again in February.

Fingers crossed for #1 to be called because that would require a quick trip to the bookshop 😉
I also preordered The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting since @CarolynM has indirectly made me realise I need to read all of KJ Charles 📚

CarolynM Yes, you really do🙂 4y

Pickpick

Reread. I think this was one of the first books I ever bought on my Kindle! So it's been a while. I'd forgotten most of the details, apart from the quote "I seem to have excalibured this knife", so it was fun to rediscover. I enjoy Jones' knack for making a magical world where the rules feel organic and you have to sort of discover them through reading and seeing what the characters think.
