With her fortieth birthday approaching, Lucy Carpenter dares to hope that she finally has it all: a wonderful new husband, Jonah, a successful career and the chance of a precious baby of her own. Life couldn't be more perfect. But the reality of becoming parents proves much harder than Lucy and Jonah imagined. Jonah's love and support is unquestioning, but as Lucy struggles with work and her own failing dreams, the strain on their marriage increases. Suddenly it feels like Lucy is close to losing everything...Heart-wrenching and poignant, this latest work by bestselling author Amanda Prowse asks the question: what does it mean to be a mother in today's hectic world? And what if it's asking too much to want it all?

Good. Well written and very emotional as it shows how multiple miscarriages can have a devastating effect on not just you but your family. Even though this is full of emotional pain there is heartwarming element to this book it shows that if you have the right support you can deal with anything. Thank you #Netgalley for the free proof copy.

This does a great job of showing the pain a woman experiences after a miscarriage, and how it affects those around her. While some sections of this book were very powerful, there were places that seemed to drag on unnecessarily. The main character had an amazing backstory, but it was doled out in tiny snippets until the whole story was randomly blurted out toward the end.

This was the story of a woman struggling to bring a baby to full term. It held my interest throughout but I wasn't impressed with the character development and I'm not a fan of Prowse's prose. It felt lengthy and exaggerated. With that being said I thought the ending was satisfying and honest.

Currently reading an ARC of this. It's kind of heart wrenching because Lucy really wants to be a mom but things just aren't working out. It's all about trying to cope in a really painful sitaution. Not sure how much I love this writing style but I'm interested.

This book has completely wrecked me in a way that I love for books to do. It has wrenched every feeling from me. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. A story of a woman struggling with family, balancing work & wanting to be a mum, a stepdaughter intent on hating her, multiple miscarriages, & a 24 year old secret that weighs her on her soul & threatens to tear her world apart but also has the seeds to put everything back together. Read it now.

Another brilliant thought provoking book by Amanda prowse. This author is a brilliant story teller. A baby would complete the family. Its the story of family and relationships and secrets. I know when I read one of Amanda's book I am in for a treat

Covering very emotive topics like miscarriages, blended families and the complicated family dynamics that brings, this is more of a female orientated read. Very moving. The tense dynamic between Lucy and her step-daughter, Camille, and how that filters into marriage is very well written. Whilst the ending is not the neat happy ending you may want for Lucy, it is very satisfying. Lovely read.

This is a "women's issues" story with potential for emotion with topics like miscarriage, strained mother-daughter relationships, etc. A quick read and super engaging, particularly the scenes involving Camille and every. thing. that happened with her. She was THE best part of the story. Loved her interaction with Lucy-felt so real!

I think the last 1/3 of the book was the best. Also I love that the ending was positive, but not what was expected!

This was my first Amanda Prowse book and after a few chapters I knew it wouldn't be my last. I was drawn into all the characters and the style of writing flowed beautifully. The plot was interesting and moved quite fast and it was hard to put the book down. Although I didn't find this book emotional I imagine it could be too some people, for me it was a good all round chick lit and I throughly enjoyed it.
