I love 🎶music history but, even at 2x the speed, I found this one dreadfully boring. Not gonna lie, I skipped through the songs, ‘cause even at reg pace, they were not my thing🙄🤷🏻‍♀️

I won this as an IRL Loteria (Mexican bingo) prize a few years back and it‘s now off my TBR. It‘s way outside my comfort zone. The MC is a morphine addicted doctor with a revoked medical license performing back room abortions on S Presa Street in San Antonio - oh, and his near constant companion is the ghost of Hank Williams. I liked it, and understood Doc by book‘s end.

reluctantangeleno I found this book in a used book store and picked it up because a) I like Steve Earle and b) I loved the TV show "The Knick", which was about a doctor in early 1900's NYC who is addicted to cocaine. Have you seen it? Highly recommend!! 3y
marleed @reluctantangeleno I haven‘t seen that show but I can picture the actor that plays the lead. Now I want to binge it. I think you might really enjoy this book. I googled Steve Earle music after reading he is a musician and really like his music. 3y
reluctantangeleno @marleed OMG, binge immediately! I looove flawed characters and it is completely FULL of them. Plus, Clive Owen...hubba hubba 😍 Now I need to put this book at the top of my TBR!! 3y
marleed @reluctantangeleno Clive Owen - that‘s it. Dang, I wish I had read this one picturing Clive Owen as Doc! 3y

#TBRtemptation post 9! Doc Ebersole lives with Hank Williams' ghost, perhaps because he was the last one to see him alive, giving him a fatal morphine dose. Doc, with his own addiction to it, lost his license and now lives in San Antonio performing abortions and treating gunshot wounds. Then Graciela comes along. She has a wrist wound which never heals, yet heals others with her touch. A ballad of regret & redemption. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

IamIamIam Lol, reminds me a bit of Odd Thomas & Elvis. 😄 7y
DreesReads Great cover! 7y
Amandajoy Is that by the singer Steve Earle? 7y

This was recommended to me after reading Bucky F*cking Dent. The words, imagery, quirky storyline and amazing readings by the authors are similar. This story is one man's journey out of hell and how in the end we all seek forgiveness and acceptance. +
