When God Made You
When God Made You | Matthew Paul Turner
6 posts | 6 read | 2 to read
YOU, you… God thinks about you. God was thinking of you long before your debut. From early on, children are looking to discover their place in the world and longing to understand how their personalities, traits, and talents fit in. Knowing that they are deeply loved and a unique creation in our big universe is certain to help them spread their wings and fly. Written in playful, charming rhyme and brought to life with vivid, fantastical illustrations, young readers will be encouraged and excited to learn about their own special gifts and how they fit into God’s divine plan as they grow, explore, and begin create for themselves. ‘Cause when God made YOU, somehow God knew That the world needed someone exactly like you!

I‘m this book the author focuses on making sure that children know they‘re deeply loved. It helps children discover their place in the world so they can spread their wings and fly. This is a traditional literature picture book that would be good for elementary school students. #ucflae3414f19

ChrisC A good ELL strategy to use with this book is to do some preview activities to activate prior knowledge. The UDL principle I would focus on is 3.1 activate background knowledge to help make connections. 4y
DrSpalding This is not traditional literature. Remember that this genre in its original form were stories passed down by word-of-mouth. I thoroughly enjoy the illustrations by David Catrow. 4y

S3V3N @Nute @LibrarianRyan I haven't read this book, but I love the cover. 5y
LibrarianRyan @BeaG it‘s not a bad book. I have a copy (gift from the publisher). It‘s religious but not real preachy. My fav Catrow books are Ain‘t Gonna Paint no More, Stand Tall Molly Lou Mellon, and I wanna an iguana 5y
S3V3N @LibrarianRyan I plan on ordering it for my nephew. I will look for Catrow books. 5y

I wanted to read this book because David Catrow is my FAVORITE illustrator. This book tells a kid that they were thought out. That someone picked the personality, the likes and dislikes, etc. That it is okay to be you. The rhyming is great and has a sing song pattern that is fun and matches the wonderful illustrations by Catrow. Overall, a book I am happy to add to my collection.

GypsyKat Beautiful illustration, I can see why they're your favorite! 7y
LibrarianRyan @GypsyKat I have only read one bad book that he illustrated and it was about a tree that the family had to cut down. It was also the only time storytime kids ever voted to never read a book again. 7y

This story is beautifully illustrated with an incredible message. Great for kids of all shapes, sizes, and walks of life about how intentionally we were made by God. It's going in my kids' Easter baskets and it's on sale now- hope you will snag a copy! Full review on #InspirationClothesline thanks to #bloggingforbooks

MarriedtoMrT Love Catrow's illustrations. I hope he teams up with Karen Beaumont again. Where's My T-R-U-C-K was a favorite in our house. (edited) 7y
LibrarianRyan @MarriedtoMrT I do love the truck book but my fav (and I do quote it at odd times) is 7y
MarriedtoMrT @LibrarianRyan I love that one as well! I actually bought that one for myself before I even thought about having kids. Now that I have kids, though, they don't see the genius of that book as much as I do. 7y
