This is an evocative and moody little picture book, and the text meshes perfectly with Klaasen‘s illustrations. A good read for an older kid who is afraid of the dark.

Savannah‘s current favourite!
The story is about a little boy who is afraid of the dark 💡🔦
#ReadingResolutions Day 19: In this book, Laszlo, the young boy who is unabashedly afraid of the #Dark, finds out that ‘The #Dark‘ has a voice. And while it sometimes scurries off in forgotten corners, like the cupboard or behind the shower curtains, it lives in the basement. Klassen has outdone himself in his ingenious use of black spaces – allowing the darkness to breathe through the pages. Full review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-6jp
The usual chaos which I could have avoided.
Oh well... Just another day to visit the library (or even a bookstore ;)) to rejuvenate after completing what needs to be done.
(Not sure where this quote is from, so I have tagged a random book)
Just stumbled across this little 4 minute story written by Lemony Snicket and read by Neil Gaiman. I am going to see both of them next weekend so I thought I would give a quick listen. (Not to mention I would listen to anything read by Gaiman...)
I highly recommend it, especially those with children who might be afraid of the dark 😊
I really liked this little picture book. I was very afraid of the dark as a child, so I identified. Also, love Klassen as an illustrator.

#classicscare - because everyone is still a little afraid of the dark, right? And what if the dark were to TALK to you?! 😱 #hallowreads #raisingreaders
A 2014 Charlotte Zolotow Award winner of this RF book, Lemony Snicket tells a story, best RA, about a boy named Laszlo who stops being afraid of the dark. https://www.islma.org/Monarch-2016-files/islma/Dark.pdf has great activities to use as well as many B,D,A questions. UDL 3.2 & EL 45 are both met because it focuses on the main idea of being afraid of the dark as well as doing an activity of comparing/contrasting either of another book listed
This book is absolutely adorable! It's a great storyline and wonderful artwork! I highly recommend this for anyone that enjoys children's books!

This F is a cute book for kids who are scared of the dark. The illustrations are engaging and so is the way Snicket writes. I was surprised to see a Snicket and Klassen collaboration and I knew I had to read this. Here's an article of an interview with Snicket talking about the book: http://www.npr.org/2013/06/19/193501924/dead-pan-humor-and-childhood-fears-colli... #ucflae3414su17
Got this one signed for my daughter a few years ago at a hilarious reading in the Children's Room at the Burlingame Public Library. More shocking than hilarious was the part where Daniel Handler used me as a prop and ran his leg up and down mine as though it was a snake! Perhaps more shocking still, I'm considering going to see him interview Michelle Tea at Litquake. I think I'll wear pants. #signedsundays p.s. Jon Klassen was lovely.
