Rin Chupeco once again brings Japanese folklore to life. The horror that awaits in the forest is only the beginning for Tark and Okiku. As they begin to search Aokigahara the casual ease suicide bodies are found is disturbing. Even before they reach the deeper mythology and spirits, the tone is set and it only gets darker as the story progresses. #horror

I think this was a great end to the duology. And any book that can give me nightmares and sleepless nights is a good one.

What a wonderful follow-up to “The Girl From The Well”! This time, it was told from Tark‘s POV instead of Okiku‘s. Much of the action took place in Japan‘s infamous “Suicide Forest”, (which frightens the daylights out of me IRL). Soooo many creepy ghosts from Japanese Folklore! Non-stop ghosts!

Also, I‘m not one to “ship”, but Tark/Okiku = OTP

Okiku is the most adorable freaky-drowned-ghost ever 😂 Also, is it wrong that I kinda ship Okiku & Tark ?

Well, I didn't know there was a second one! Although I didn't love the first one, I like the lore and characters enough to hunt this one down!

An extremely satisfying sequel about death rituals, ghost brides, & the awesome power of love. I loved seeing things from Tark's eyes this time. His humorous voice moved the plot at a wonderful pace. Tark & Okiku were lovely — wistful & sweet, without being overly creepy or too weird. & I'm so GLAD of that ending!! It keeps the possibility open for more adventures of Okiku & Tark to come, which is exactly what I need. ★★★★☆. Third book of #24in48!

Alright folks, it's my last #24in48 check-in for tonight! I'll be reading a bit longer, but I made some real headway today so I don't feel guilty getting some sleep too 😊. Incidentally, the timer I'm using happens to automatically reset when a new day starts, so I'm marking today's hours now so I can add them all tomorrow. Good night, everyone! See y'all bright and early tomorrow ❤️

Gonna work on this Ring series for #slaythatseries this weekend ❤️📖📚‼️📚

AmandaL I am 40 years old, and that book looks like it would make me sleep in my parents' room. 😱 7y
JoeStalksBeck @amandaL lol! When the Ring movie first came out it freaked me out bad! I've never read any of the books that are associated with it so I thought I'd try it out 📺 7y
BibliophileMomma This is scary looking. 🙈🙈 7y

BibliophileMomma That being said is this one you own?! Lol 7y
JoeStalksBeck @Tiffy_Reads lol no I got this from the library 😁 7y
BibliophileMomma Ok. I'm not sure I can handle that scary. You'll have to let me know if you think it's too much for me. Lol. 7y
JoeStalksBeck @Tiffy_Reads so far it's not bad. It's YA too so it doesn't get too intense 😉❤️ 7y
hyacinth Whoa! I missed the fact that it was a book series. LOVE the movie so I'll definitely be curious about this. 😮 7y
JoeStalksBeck @hyacinth Ring (novel series) The Ring is a series of novels written by Koji Suzuki, released in the 1990s. Initially, there were three books: Ring, Spiral, and Loop. A short story collection called Birthday was released shortly after, introducing extra stories interconnecting the trilogy.(wiki) This book is in that format . The angry girl ghost that hunts people down 7y
JoeStalksBeck @hyacinth this is a stand alone / sequel to The Girl In The Well . I different series but the same type of book as the Ring 7y

A creepy thriller sequel to The Girl from the Well, which is kind of like a Ring spinoff - if the girl was actually decent.

A good second book, but not necessary to read the first one to follow the story. Most of it took place in Aokigahara forest and was a great mix of creepy and urban legend style stories.

Overall, I enjoyed this book! I feel like Rin Chupeco is writing stories that no one else is writing in the YA horror genre. I can't wait for her next book and (hopefully) another book in this series!

I loved it. Especially freaky, more so than the first book. This time, the main action is happening in a hidden village in Japan's suicide forest (a real place, btw. Read a few Wikipedia articles abt it and ghosts in Japan. Fascinating.) Anyway, ghost girls galore and a curse. Delicious stuff.

Currently reading this and it's freaking me out. Which I love. Nevertheless, I'm taking a short break. And i love that it's making me do that bec I don't really get freaked out by horror books much, so when I do, it's great.

GatheringBooks looks good! :) 8y
Fantaghiro23 @GatheringBooks If you like YA horror with a ghostly forest, a ghostly village, curses, and Japanese dead girls crawling across the floor to get you, then yes, it is EXTREMELY good.:) 8y
