The Lake Effect | 
pickThis was my #DoubleSpin for August. I enjoyed this YA novel about a boy named Briggs who spends the summer at the lake working for Mrs. B, an older Serbian lady who likes to go to funerals. She‘s a great character. Briggs and others in the book deal with a variety of problems but there‘s a lot of humor too.
One good thing about photo challenges is that they remind me of books I own but have still not read. This one, for #LitsySpringBreak Day 2: #Lake, had been waiting a while! Maybe I‘ll finally start it soon.

October reading stats. Thanks to the Cybils for both the high YA count and low author of color count -- I've read almost all of this years YA books by AOC in realistic fiction.
Now for something a little lighter.
pickA quick and enjoyable read. I've never spent time on a lake, but it made me miss the Oregon coast (my home away from home). I'll definitely be checking out her other books!
pickI started this book this morning for the #24in48 readathon and just finished it. Perfect summer read about love, death, romance and friendship. On to a little graphic novel for a break.
This is my line up for this weekend's readathon. I'm so excited that I finally found some classics in graphic novel form since they are nice, quick breaks between novels . I'm starting with The a Lake Effect which I have been forcing myself to wait for this weekend to start. The author grew up across the street from my house and she's a great YA author!

#bookmail today is an author I know personally. I lived across the street from her as a child. She is super sweet and her books are great! Some of you may know that I'm very selective about YA. It's not my favorite genre but when done well, I enjoy it a lot. I've read Erin's last two books and was pleased that I actually loved them! (The pressure was high). This was released this past Tuesday and I'm thrilled to have it in my hot little hands!

Just released today - The Lake Effect! If you are a fan of YA check out this book by Erin McCahan. I haven't read it yet but I really enjoyed her first two books. I'm pretty sure her Love and Other Foreign Words was my first time reading YA and I was surprised how much I liked it. I thought I was too old for that genre. 😂

I started this last night and it's really fun and quirky. A great summer read.
