I was enjoying it but then when I finished it I just found the overall story abit too far fetched and some what disturbing 😒

pickMy first book from John Burley but it won't be my last. Good twisty thriller set in 1954 Cottonwood, CA where a town thinks Danny, a 6-year-old, brings illness & maladies. Danny & his older brother are taken & a sheriff fights to find them-despite the town's feelings. Unique, good pacing & twists-it left me unsettled in a good way. Then I was lining up my weekend reading & saw that the author of the tagged book I'm reading for a blog book tour next week has a previous book called 'The Absence of Mercy." I'll take it! ??Both books seem to be set in small towns with dark secrets & citizens who might be lacking mercy when it comes to others.?
