Attraction: Elements of Chemistry | Penny Reid
8 posts | 17 read | 9 to read
Elements of Chemistry: ATTRACTION is the first part in a three part series; it is 45k words; and it ends with a cliffhanger. Part 1 (ATTRACTION) will be released April 9, 2015 Part 2 (HEAT) will be released April 30, 2015. Part 3 (CAPTURE) will be released May 16, 2015. One week. Private beach. Invisible girl. Jerk-faced bully. What's the worst that could happen? Kaitlyn Parker has no problem being the invisible girl, which is why she finds herself hiding in various cabinets and closets all over her college campus. Despite her best efforts, she can't escape the notice of Martin Sandeke-bad boy, jerkface bully, and the universe's hottest, wealthiest, and most unobtainable bachelor-who also happens to be Kaitlyn's chemistry lab partner. Kaitlyn might be the only girl who isn't interested in exploiting his stunning rower's build, chiseled features, and family's billionaire fortune. Kaitlyn wants Martin for his brain, specifically to tabulate findings of trace elements in surface water. When Kaitlyn saves Martin from a nefarious plot, Martin uses the opportunity to push Kaitlyn out of her comfort zone: spring break, one week, house parties, bathing suits, and suntan lotion. Can she overcome her aversion to being noticed? Will he be able grow beyond his self-centered nature? Or, despite their obvious chemistry, will Martin be the one to drive Kaitlyn into the science cabinet of obscurity for good?

Mehso-so

I say so-so but I just went and bought the next one because this one just ends. I‘m still thrown off by that. It‘s mid scene.
While I love that the heroine is a nerd, the hero is an ass and he‘s not nice to her and she just lets it happen even tho she knows it‘s not great. That‘s a big disappointment. #readwomen #romantsy
Update: didn‘t buy the next ones, maybe someday I will.

Wait a minute! Who gets to dissect stingrays in high school? I had to dissect a worm (so gross), a frog (does it get worse than that?), and a cat. Never anything as exotic as a stingray, and I grew up in Florida!!

JosieG We had to dissect worms and fetal pigs in my high school Biology class. That was the year I decided science was not for me. ☹ 7y
DGRachel @JosieG I don‘t think I could have handled dissecting fetal pigs. Worms and frogs were 9th grade biology and I barely passed that class. The cat was anatomy, senior year. I had great lab partners, which is how I survived that dissection. 7y
[DELETED] 3803335244 We did a baby shark, broke my heart! My kids use a computer program to dissect now. 7y

JosieG I do not know why we did fetal pigs rather than frogs. Having seen E.T. so many times as a kid, I was mentally prepared for frogs. To this day when I smell anything resembling formaldehyde, I get queasy because of that class. 7y
LibrarianRyan College was the usual frogs, pigs, sharks, cats. Alaska however was cool. They couldn't get "official" specimens so we dissected what ever washed up on the beach. (Island in the chain). Birds, otters, you name it. 7y
CherryPie Frogs in junior high and baby pigs in high school. 😕 7y

SCORE! I‘m not enjoying any of the three books I currently have in progress and have hated the last two I finished. Home with a migraine and all I wanted was something fun that I can finish today while I wait for Ausma‘s new book to release tomorrow. Penny Reid to the rescue. 10% in and I‘ve nearly wet myself laughing.

mabell I'm glad you getting relief with a book! Migraines are the worst. ☹️ (edited) 7y
cobwebmoth Hope your headache goes away soon. 7y
DGRachel @mabell @cobwebmoth Thank you. I can‘t seem to shake it, but our weather has been all over the place and weather changes are one of my worst triggers. Just trying to ride it out. 7y

My friend @Fantaghiro23 is in Singapore for the day so we met for late lunch. Here's a shot of my french toast with fruits and salted caramel sauce, pepper agave latte, and a recent Kindle freebie that I got a copy of.
