What are you looking for in a book? With this one, I was looking for a Hallmark movie in written form. That's exactly what this book is. You get exactly what is advertised. If that's not what you're looking for then this book isn't for you.

This is an adorable romance that stars a main character who is Black and had a chronic illness. Both of these categories are unrepresented in fiction, let alone romance.

Overall it was an enjoyable romance. I love the representation. I love the realism in the issues. I had a difficult time connecting to the couple but I think that's a me issue not a book issue. The story was great. I recommend this one! 3.5/5 stars.

I feel like my main issue with this book is that it isn't really about Cassidy Holmes. This is the story of the start of mega successful pop group Gloss. At the end I still don't feel like I have insight into why Cassidy chooses to take her life.

The book leaves a lot of threads hanging. The writing is good and I would be happy to check this author out in the future. I just felt like the story needed a little more to click into place.

I really enjoyed the experience of listening to this book. Both actors did a fantastic job with their parts. I loved the way the chapters meld together a story that takes place simultaneously in 1982 and 2017. The ghost story for the motel was creepy and compelled me to keep reading. For me the hiccup came with the ending. I didn't understand how it came together and just didn't find it satisfying.

4/5 for the first 90%, 2/5 for the end.

It's been a few days and I still don't know how I feel about this book. It ended strong, it had a well developed magic system, and some really good characters. The book starts sloooow. There is a graphic description of the rape of a child and the implied rape of a college aged woman. The last quarter of the book was pretty dang good.

And while I do own the hardcover of this one I did listen to it on audio. 3.5/5 stars.

JanuarieTimewalker13 I started it and put it down. Maybe audio is the way to go. 4y

Thrillers aren't usually my thing but I enjoyed this one. It is dark and not an easy read. It examines the way the world treated the victims of two rape cases that took place in the same town 25 years apart. The topic is covered with honesty and sensitivity but does get into excruciating detail, highlighting the way rape trials are traumatizing for the victims. Still the book leaves you with a sense of closure for both cases. 4/5 stars.

1. YA, romance, science fiction, fantasy, I just love so many types of books.

2. I don't know about favorite but I reread the Vampire Academy series the most. I love a lot of series (Twilight, Outlander, Mercy Thompson, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, so many more).

3. This is a hard pick! Also worth a mention: On the Come Up. House of Earth and Blood. Beach Read. A Song of Wraith's and Ruin. The Night Swim

BookmarkTavern I‘ve been hearing good things about the Mercy Thompson series! 😁 Thank you for sharing! 4y

Royal Treatment is a story about a Prince trying to save the monarchy and a blogger set on ending it. It is fast paced with witty dialogue and a sense of humor. I didn't feel a real sense of connection with the characters nor with their relationship. Overall it was fine. I skimmed the last 15% and probably won't pick up the sequel.

In books like this the author does a fantastic job of setting up the hero to be a douche canoe and not nearly enough in redeeming them afterwards.

In this book the hero tells the whole school to hate the heroine and gives them permission to make her life miserable. He tells people she is a diseased slut and not to touch her. Then he propositions her so she can scratch her slutty itches on him and spare his family. What a prince charming.

This book wasn't bad it was just long. I think we easily could have removed 200-300 pages (9-14 hours) and still have had a good story.

The relationship between Tatiana and Alexander definitely had moments that made me smile but I got kind of bored around 20 hours. How many ways can these two communicate poorly, ride the bus, and make pie? And there are two more books of similar length? Jeez.

If you didn't guess by the multiple updates about the same book - this was amazing. It had me shocked, tearing up, and turning pages like mad to find out what was going to happen next. I can't wait to get my hands on the second one.

I'll probably aim for a physical book next time though. This was a little hard to read as an ebook.

LibrarianRyan I too loved it. Apoarently Brad Pitts developement Company picked up the option. 7y
booksandcats13 @LibrarianRyan that's interesting. I wonder how they would translate the format of this book to a movie? Because a screenplay written like a normal movie just wouldn't do it justice I don't think 7y
LibrarianRyan @bigdamnbookgeek i don't know. I had a galley for Geminga so it was missing most Of the graphics but was still readable. I could almost see it as a trial and them going back and forth with evidence. (edited) 7y

Life's been hectic and I haven't had much time to sit down and read. It took me a while to warm up to this one. The main character is a bit of an ice queen to I felt no real connection with her until 75% of the way through this book.

Still it turned out to be a good book and I look forward to reading the next one 😊.

I guess I'm a sucker for art because this art was fantastic. The story was pretty good too! I haven't read anything like it. It's about a teenage fangirl of the Pantheon - a group of twelve individuals that are reincarnated gods. The Pantheon have fame and supernatural powers but they will die within two years – part of a ninety-year cycle known as the Recurrence.

❤ it! Excited to check out the next one 😄!

BraveNewBooks Easily one of my favorite series ever. And this has some fun references to the WicDiv universe if you're interested. 7y

The good: badass female characters, diversity, bright color pallets, sex positivity, and general sassy-ness.

The bad: not much for plot, recreational drug use (I know, it makes me sound boring that this bothers me- but it does), and behind the scenes drama.

I enjoyed this and probably will read the next one. I'd say 3.5/5 stars.

I'm not surprised this one isn't in the system. I received a copy of the Bacterionomicon for Christmas. It has beautiful illustrations of both "apothecary healers" and the "lords of pestilence" along with educational profiles of the medicines and diseases. My pictures do not do it justice.

I look forward to reading more of this one ?.
