I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it. Some will be old, some will be new - don't judge me, I have a lot of books.

Day 141th

Join the fun if you want!

#NoFemmeber #NonFictionNovember I have not read the book but the film is excellent. Spotlight shines the #harshestLight unto widespread child abuse in Boston perpetrated by a ring of Catholic Priests and covered up by the Church. The story was investigated and made public by a team of reporters from the Boston Globe Newspaper, creating shockwaves throughout the world. Book is currently $3.99 on Kindle.

Megabooks That scandal was just unbelievably terrible! 😓 6y
Cinfhen It really was/is @Megabooks 💔 6y

BarbaraBB Well chosen 👍👍 6y
TrishB This is a good fiction one based in Ireland by the wonderful Mr Boyne 6y
Cinfhen I‘ve loaned my copy of that book and I really want it back ... I haven‘t read it yet @TrishB 6y
Cinfhen Thanks @BarbaraBB @Tanisha_A I agree, movie is phenomenal ❤️ 6y
TrishB My IRL friend and I read together- very thought provoking as these subjects are. A good read. I never lend books out I haven‘t yet read, I‘m mean!! 6y
Centique I loved this movie! Such a good way of coming at a terrible subject. 6y
Reggie @TrishB @Centique @Cinfhen Have you ever seen a movie called Calgary. It‘s a few years old and has Brenden Gleason as a priest where the opening at confession is a confessor tells him that he has a week to live before said confessor/survivor of sexual abuse at the hands of a priest but not this priest, is going to kill him? It‘s soooo good. 6y
TrishB @Reggie no- but sounds really good 👍🏻 I‘ll look out for it. 6y
Cinfhen Have not seen but hubby is the movie guy in our house @Reggie I‘ll have to ask him if he‘s seen this movie! 6y
KarenUK @reggie ‘Calvary‘ really is sooooo good! 6y
Billypar So heartbreaking- you keep thinking you've heard the worst, and then something like the Pennsylvania report comes out about the extent of statewide incidents of abuse followed by cover-ups that went on for literally decades...really makes you wonder about the true number that includes those that never get reported.. 6y
Reggie @KarenUK lol, whoops, thank you. 6y
Centique @Reggie oooh sounds good. I‘ll go look for it. I‘m nearly as obsessive about my movie Wishlist over on IMDB as I am about my TBR here 😂 6y
KarenUK @Reggie 😉💕👍 6y

Just bought this as a Kindle deal and I‘m already hooked. Love books based on investigative journalism. The subject matter, however, does not bode well for the safety of my Kindle as I tend to throw books that infuriate me.

Gaylagal2 This is a great book and it WILL infuriate you. It did me! You can also read the entire, original story online for free at the Boston Globe, Jan 6, 2002. 7y
cathysaid @Gaylagal2 I‘ll check that out. Thanks! 7y

A little late night viewing, since the dog wants to play ball instead of sleep after being crated most of the day. I'm not sleepy either, so here we go. I do plan on reading the book, too; I was still living in RI when the scandal broke but didn't read the Globe coverage then.
