Strange Death of Fiona Griffiths
Strange Death of Fiona Griffiths | Harry Bingham
12 posts | 12 read | 1 reading | 7 to read
When DC Fiona Griffiths says 'yes' to her policeman boyfriend, it's an affirmation that she wants finally to put her psychological breakdown behind her, and become a resident of 'Planet Normal' like everybody else. But she still can't resist the challenge of an undercover policing course, and finding it remarkably easy to assume a new identity, she comes top of the class. So when an ingenious payroll fraud starts to look like the tip of a huge criminal iceberg, Fiona is selected to infiltrate the fraudsters' operation, posing as a meek former payroll clerk now forced to work as a cleaner. But as she penetrates deeper into their operation, coming closer to identifying the mastermind behind it, she faces another, even more frightening danger - that her always fragile grip on her sense of self has now been lost and she may never find her way back.

This is third book in the Fiona Griffiths series and possibly the best so far. Fiona, a detective constable in Wales, is assigned a small payroll fraud case, but soon uncovers murder and a larger plan afoot. She goes undercover as a payroll clerk, risking her life and her sanity. I love Fiona. My library only had the first two books in the series so I‘m now purchasing the rest on my Kindle. #Bookspin for April

mom2bugnbee Our TV show is the same. The series 4 finale is the best 90 mins of TV I've ever watched. BC & MF are simply brilliant throughout. 6y
Sharpeipup @mom2bugnbee Agreed! I watched it at the gym...on the elliptical...and there was some yelling at the TV... 6y
mom2bugnbee @sharpeipup I called the twist about the dog... And I NEVER get twists like that. I may have run around my living room, arms raised in victory. ✌️ 6y

Third book in the series. Fiona is a unique character and her personal quirks are really put to good use in an undercover assignment to break a massive fraud ring. Ongoing plots are also moved forward. Maybe the best in this series yet.

Another great read in this series. Really like the MC Fiona, though she has quite a sad personal end to this particular book. Looking forward to see what happens in book 4. Been buying these in second hand hardback and can‘t find the next one in hardback at all!! This Thing of Darkness....so if anyone has any hidden sites I may not have tried let me know.

Fiona lets going undercover get to her, like really, really get to her. I agree that if you can't get at the big fish then what have you accomplished?

If there was a rating beyond Pick, I would be using it. My favourite book in the series so far. It grapples with, among other things, the sense of self and how fragile it can be. A must-read.

jenniferw88 His next one came out today! 😉 I now have to decide whether to continue collecting the paperbacks (I'm running out of shelf space) or cave in and buy the Kindle version for 99p! 😂 7y

Think pink and DON'T BLINK! 😱

Also amused that the library forgot to remove the Chapters price sticker before laminating the cover 😁

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Ha! Don't blink indeed. 8y
rabbitprincess @TobeyTheScavengerMonk I may actually have to cover this one in paper before reading it 😟 8y

I've just started the fifth in this series by Harry Bingham, entitled The Dead House. Fiona Griffiths is a great protagonist, complex yet ultimately likeable. Best to start at the start of the series with this one; Fiona's family and past play an integral part as the series develops.
