When Duncan McKaskel decided to move his family west, he knew he would face dangers, and he was prepared for them. He knew about the exhausting terrain, and he was expecting the punishing elements. What he worried about was having to use violence against other menmen who would follow him and try to steal the riches that he didnt even possess. Yet bandits were only part of McKaskels worries. For a mysterious stranger, Con Vallian, had appeared one night and saved his life. But was Vallians true interest Duncans wife, Susanna? And, more important, how did she feel about him? As they push on into the wilderness, Duncan must discover who is the greater threatthe thieves outside his camp or the enigmatic stranger within.

Pickpick

It's been cold and dreary all week, so I decided I needed to revisit a favorite author - Louis L'Amour. I have all his books with these great covers from the 70s. #LitsyAtoZ #LetterQ @BookishMarginalia

Tamra Classic! 7y
Tamra Have you tried Craig Johnson ala Longmire? We might be in the minority on Litsy with our taste for westerns. 😁 (edited) 7y
JazzFeathers Wow! 😍 I've only read two L'Amour westerns (and one historical novel) but l really really loved them. He's such a fantastic author 7y

CaitZ @Tamra I haven't read the Longmire books yet. They are on my extremely long TBR list. I did enjoy the TV series. 7y
CaitZ @JazzFeathers I started collecting them waaaay back in High School so I've been at it for some time. I was able to find most of them in used book stores. He is definitely one of my favorite authors 7y
Tamra @CaitZ the books have more humor between characters. 😁 No worried about too much overlap between the two either. 7y

#backtoreading #notyournormalgenre

Westerns are definitely not my normal genre.
