Not as good as I remember it. Will watch the tv show soon, but maybe I‘m just over this type of story.

I‘ll admit, the commercials for the new TV show intrigued me, so of course I picked up the book/source material. Lots of potential in this first installment, some things I‘m a bit unsure of, but I‘ll be curious to see how it all develops.

All of the males have suddenly died. Except Yorick. And his monkey. This seems really interesting so far. And the artwork is pretty awesome.

Me. Taking the cat for a walk. JK. I don't have a cat.

I'm having trouble focusing on War and Peace. Tripped on a graphic novel. Started reading.

Addison_Reads I read this series last year and really enjoyed it. 4y
vlwelser @Addison_Reads I think this author wrote some of the Tank Girl series so it landed on my list. It seems pretty good so far. 4y

I love Brian K. Vaughan! This series is another hit. It highlights things wrong in our society and there‘s tons of humor. People that say there is anti-feminist rhetoric here are reading this wrong. Vaughan is highlighting the difference between feminists and women who believe they are feminists when they aren‘t. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

TK421 I loved this series! 6y

Meh.

The concept was interesting and I liked the art. The panels were all easy to follow, but I was bored by most of it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

TricksyTails Oh no! 🙈 Not doing the best with recommendations! 6y
DGRachel @TricksyTails 😂😂 No worries. It was probably more my mood than anything else. 6y
TricksyTails Are you going to give another volume a try? 6y
DGRachel @TricksyTails I‘m not sure. I checked out all 5 from Hoopla and have them until 5/12, I think, so I might. Right now, I‘m reading and enjoying Macbeth, so it will probably be a few days before I‘m willing to read anything other than that book. 6y
TricksyTails I think I didn‘t fall in love with the series immediately so if it appeals to you maybe give it another volume or two. I can‘t remember when I got hooked but I do know by the end I was in love with it. But I have a terrible track record so feel free to ignore me. 😅 6y

Sincerely hoping these get better. There's a great deal of anti-feminist garbage speak in here but I've been told that's a device to highlight problems that exist in the world before moving into a dystopian storyline devoid of men. I liked some of the ideas but didn't find many of them to be well executed. My first read for the #letsgetgraphicweeklongmarathon and one that has been on my shelf for years (first volume at least) so #LitsyAtoZ!

GrilledCheeseSamurai Huh. I mean...its been a long time since I've read these. I remember enjoying them. I can't really remember the structure...like...did I feel the same as you after vol. 1 and then grow to like it, or was I enamoured right from the get go? Hoping it gets more enjoyable for you. 🤔 6y
everlocalwest @GrilledCheeseSamurai I'm going to give it at least three volumes and see how it goes. 😸 6y

I really liked this. Great concept, lots of humor, and I want to see what happens next. It was so enjoyable that I will only knock it one star for the patriarchal, misogynistic bullshit idea that the entire world would turn into a post-apocalyptic wasteland without penises there to run the government and stop the world from descending into anarchy. Thankfully, Brian Vaughn evolved and now we have Saga. #thisiswhyweneedfeminism

readordierachel LOL. Good point. 7y
Krisjericho The female elected officials become so terrified and non-functional that they literally hide. And the woman who becomes president due to the line of succession is convinced that she does not have the ability to do the job. She may as well say, "Who? Little ole ME?" and then swoon because she has the vapors. Probably from menstruation. 7y
Krisjericho And the only women who display any kind of strength or power are not only man-hating bitches, THEY LITERALLY CUT OFF THEIR BREAST. That isn't even symbolic it is so hit you over the head obvious.

I have some feelings. 😂

Hahahahaha. This made me snort laugh when I read it.

DimeryRene I just started this series! I think it's okay. I don't love it, but I'm going to read it all the way through and then see how I feel. 7y

#junebookbugs day 4 - #allthesingleladies

Sorry. I couldn't resist.

Own like 3 volumes that I haven't read yet, and the rest of the series is pretty easy to find used, so I've never felt pressured to finish it. Expect I'll get around to it eventually.

vivastory This is the most recent graphic series i have read 7y
