I loved every single one of the Highland Guard books and wasn‘t sure how McCarty‘s sexy brothers-in-arms set up would translate to the present day, but boy does it ever. Going Dark features an undercover Navy seal falling for a PhD environmentalist while escaping bad guys in northern Scotland. It‘s fabulous.

My first book by this author & exasperating for the most part. The ā€liberalā€¯ environmentalist heroine is naive while the SEAL hero is the brave American that people like her are too dumb to appreciate. This doesn‘t stop them from sleeping together while fleeing for lifeā€”in tiny Scottish towns that are described like yelp reviews. Russians & snooty Frenchmen are the baddies. There may be a slightly better sequel hinted at by a side plot. #romantsy
