Cozy mystery + squished hot cross bun = breakfast. I‘ve had poor luck with cozy mysteries lately, but this one‘s got a punchy prose style, interesting characters, and internal logic that doesn‘t depend on everyone throwing common sense out the window. No needless repetition yet, either! I‘m optimistic.

I was looking for another cozy mystery audiobook series and I‘m so glad I chose this one! Set in 1920 in the aftermath of WWI and the Spanish flu, there was surprisingly more humor than I was expecting. I love both Beryl & Edwina and they complement each other nicely and work well together. I love the setting. 5⭐️

Mehso-so

This was entertaining enough, but nothing special. I definitely did not suspect the culprit, as the information kept coming slowly. The characters were rather stereotypical, and much of the revelations smacked of melodrama, but I was in the mood for something light and fluffy, and it certainly fit that bill. Shout-out to the superb narration by Barbara Rosenblat. She made a believable full cast by herself! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I liked this cozy historical mystery. I love that time frame - between the world wars, and the English village was a fun setting. Thanks @Lynnsoprano for posting about this a while ago!

Lynnsoprano You‘re quite welcome! I‘m glad you enjoyed it. I hope she writes another with these characters, as I really enjoyed them. 6y

This is an entertaining mystery. I consider it a cross between historical fiction and a cozy mystery. Beryl and Edwina are an unlikely but lovable pair of friends and sleuths. I suspect that this is the start of a series, and I look forward to their next adventure. The picture is of a village pub that we visited with our friends in Cambridgeshire.

Pamwurtzler Of course I had to put that on hold. It must be popular! 7y

I started this today, since it‘s going to be a busy week and I wanted something light. Besides, it‘s a great excuse to post pictures of some of the English villages we visited on our late summer trip. This is from Selworthy.
