Now they are sent to New York in 1986 to intercept Galaxity’s worst megalomaniac, Xombul—except that in 1986, the world is in ruins and New York is about to be swallowed by the ocean. “Since I found this little apartment in Greenwich Village I‘ve grown fond of it.†— Laureline to Valerian

I just finished this fun little #adventure #comic: A futuristic time cop and his lovely assistant travel to a flooded New York.

I wonder if I can find a library source for these in the original language—it would be a great way to practice my french.

My library extended patrons' Overdrive limit from ten titles to twenty. Hurray! This'll make it a lot easier for me to poke around the Canada Reads long list and plan out my upcoming audiobooks.

It turns out digital comics work in Libby, too. I always used to have to read them in my browser, which I hate doing, so that's a major plus. Good changes, library!

TobeyTheScavengerMonk The movie was visually stunning but miscast with a mess of a plot (plus Laureline losing her top billing was messed up), but I‘m contemplating tracking these down because I love space cops! 7y
UrsulaMonarch That's so great! Yay library! 7y
xicanti @TobeyTheScavengerMonk I read and enjoyed the first volume in French, so I look forward to exploring the rest of the series. 7y
xicanti @Lkelly it looks like they now offer video content through Overdrive, too, but I doubt I'll use that very often. 7y
UrsulaMonarch @xicanti interesting! I'm kind of embarrassed by how little I use streaming video resources- I was so excited when my library got #kanopy but I have yet to use it! 😳 7y

Pickpick

The first book in the Valerian and Laureline series transports them to New York City in 1986 after it‘s submerged from an industrial accident. (The book was written in 1967.) At times, it is a bit dated and it‘s story structure is definitely from another era, but still it‘s a fun adventure.

#bookmail today! With the movie coming out this summer, I've been really interested in getting my hands on the Valerian and Laureline comics and I finally have!!! 🎉 So psyched to read these!! 😆

TobeyTheScavengerMonk The trailers look insane in the best way. I hope these are awesome. 8y
eekabook @TobeyTheScavengerMonk Yesss the trailers are amazing!!! The books are so different than what I'm used to as they're super, super late 60s in style, and there's a recap on every page (since I'm pretty sure they were serialized as strips). But I'm enjoying them so far! 8y

Hokey as hell. Had a hard time enjoying it. The idea behind it is solid but it's poorly executed. Hoping the movie will be better.

Took advantage of the recent comixology sale! Looking forward to the Besson movie too.
