This was a reread this weekend for an early Hanukkah story time with my niece and nephew before they flew home today! One of my favorite Hanukkah stories, and also fills the #booked2021 #mustache prompt

Starlight, star bright
Magic on a winter‘s night
White snow, candle glow
Far away and long ago...

I love the first lines of this quirky Hanukkah tale. A mysterious visitor leaves a magical latke frying pan for Moishe that makes all the latkes he wants. But what will happen when someone else secretly uses it? A family favorite that reminds me of Strega Nona.

And my 1st Winter Reads Bingo! #HolidayReads #WinterGames #TheFilthyAnimals

alisiakae If I have this correct, this is +20 complete bingo line, +21 for HolidayReads post 5y

We made latkes (fried potato pancakes) last night for the 3rd night of #Chanukah. Eating foods fried in lots of oil are a Jewish tradition during the Festival of Lights, and latkes are the best! Hubby‘s family recipe is simple but amazingly delicious: potato, onion, salt and pepper. We typically make a baked chicken and salad to go with it.

JenP Yum! We made some too but yours look better! 7y
alisiakae @JenP Thanks!! Happy Chanukah! The family joke is that you can‘t make them without adding some blood to the mix. 😂 It‘s hubby‘s grandma‘s recipe, and you use the smallest side of the grater for both the potato and onion. Very labor intensive, but worth it! 7y
Cinfhen Yum indeed!!! I totally cheat and use the food processor😂😜 7y

quirkyreader I love latkes. Work has been crazy so I haven't gotten too festive yet. Maybe this weekend. 7y
alisiakae @Cinfhen The sacrilege! 😂😂😂 @quirkyreader It can definitely be a challenge! None of us got home until late on Wednesday, so we had to push the festive meal back to Thursday. I try really hard to do something family-oriented each of the 8 nights, but it can be hard when we‘re also doing our normal activities/work/life/school too! 7y
Cinfhen We did a graffiti street art tour of southeast Tel Aviv yesterday! It was really incredible ~ so much talent & so much love ❤️ 7y
alisiakae @Cinfhen That sounds amazing! 7y
Cinfhen It was cool to see how Israeli's choose to express themselves through symbols, art, words, & mediums . There were also tags from Berlin, London, Singapore and the Netherlands 7y
Owlizabeth @Cinfhen that sounds fascinating!! 7y
Cinfhen If you‘re ever in Israel take the tour... @Owlizabeth it was fun and a nice way to discover a diverse neighborhood 😍 7y
