One day, a bear cub finds something strange and wonderful in the forest. When he touches the keys, they make a horrible noise. Yet he is drawn back again and again. Eventually, he learns to play beautiful sounds, delighting his woodland friends. Then the bear is invited to share his sounds with new friends in the city. He longs to explore the world beyond his home, and to play bigger and better than before. But he knows that if he leaves, the other bears will be very sad . . . This gorgeously illustrated tale of following ones dreams reminds us of the value of friendship, wherever we go.

So adorable, made me teary-eyed 🥹 In the end, our most important audience is our family and friends who have supported us the whole way.

sblbooks @LibrarianRyan have you tried overdrive, that's where I found it. 4y
LibrarianRyan @sblbooks don‘t have overdrive. I have not looked on Hoopla or Axis 360 yet because I have a ton of other to get read first. 4y

This book made me feel sad. As I have just moved to a big city and miss the people back where I came from. But I know that I am not going back.

So cute! I used to play piano when I was little so this spoke to me. And it‘s about a bear so how can you not love it? This made me look into other musical picture books. Any other musical book recommendations?

I really need to get me a copy of this book. This was another reread, but when I seen it on Libby, I simply couldn‘t pass it up. I adore the artwork in this one. ♥️#a2z #BBRC #picturebook @LibrarianRyan

Great animal Fantasy book, would be good for kids independent reading. Story is about a bear who wonders across a piano and then begins to play. He starts playing for all his friends and then eventually moves to the city to share his talent with everyone, but then he realizes he misses his home. When he goes back he‘s worried his friends would be upset because he left, but his friends were loyal and supporting him the whole time. #ucflar3414sp18

Jeffersleighann This book seems really interesting and I like how you incorporated the UDL with the resource! That way you know how to apply the UDL (: 7y

picture books have the best endpapers -- here's a selection of my favorites from my small but growing picture book collection.

(the bear and the piano, a child of books, life story, and the stars)

While my teacher training here in Oman has to do with social and emotional needs of the gifted and the twice exceptional, I can not help but share picturebooks of course. Last day of training! Going back home to Singapore tonight.

This book is everything. Bear learns to play the piano, leaves the comfort of the forest to share his music with the world, but misses home. He returns to his friends who are proud of all he has accomplished. The perfect book for Brother.

Bear is brave enough to follow his dreams but realizes that home is what makes him truly happy. Lovely mixed media illustrations.
