I quite enjoyed this steampunk tale of medical espionage. The steampunk was not outlandish, made sense, and worked well in the story line. I was not expecting much from this book or from the audiobook. But I found myself sucked into the adventure and the romance of the story. This is just the first book in a trilogy and I will be checking out the rest of the series as soon as my Hoopla account renews.

I used to read a ton of #Romance. When I lived in Alaska my parents let me read Harlequin because I had read every book in the school library. I hard started in on the base library but so much of it was “war theory” and my rents thought I was getting too good at torturing my brother. The HQR could be found for a dime at the base resale shop. I became a a sucker for a happy ending. I read the new sci-fi as it came in, but ❤️❤️ was right there. 👇🏻

I almost exclusively use my various library accounts for Audiobooks. The ones I own either come from #audiobooksync every year and are stored on Overdrive app, or if I do buy them, I use Libro.fm. I am anti-amazon.

I have been introduced to Chirp from bookBub but I haven‘t used it yet. And I will use iBooks or the text to speech function when necessary.

I‘m a fan of Steampunk, but not necessarily mystery and rarely romance, so this novel was destined not to be my cup of tea. I enjoyed the medical aspect and plot points of the novel that puts it in its own niche. Enough smattering of Victorian garb keep it somewhat historically enjoyable. The mystery outcome was predictable, although the journey there was unique enough to make it worth reading. Likable characters and a quick-paced adventure.
