I'm enjoying the unique Venitian outlook on life, love and death. And I love his family. It wasn't very LGBTQ friendly, this episode, but not because of our hero, but rather the attitudes of others, so that made that bearable.

pickBrunetti is slowly growing on me, and I think a lot of it has to do with his dry and at times cynical sense of humor. It‘s a heatwave in Venice, and there are times in the narrative you could feel the heat. Brunetti balances justice and truth in this one, with a plot line that has twists. #1994 #19822022
pickYou know who is behind it all as soon as you meet him, so this book is all about “How will they get that no-good sumbitch?“ And, of course, Brunetti does.
The language and attitudes are dated from todays perspective of LGBTQ+ rights. Despite that, Brunetti is sympathetic to the “transvestite whores“ in his context of 1994 Italy.

pickI think this is the best of this series that I have read so far. The plot was very involved but kept my interest to the end. I really enjoy the characters, and I love how the city of Venice is as important as any character. This couldn‘t take place anywhere else. With food and drink so important in these books, I think a picture of our Valentine‘s Day Prosecco is appropriate. Brunetti drank some in the story 😄
Yes, I have another book in progress on my Kindle, but I‘m in the mood for Commissario Brunetti 😄 This is the next one in the series for me. I have a long way to go!
