This was a very good mystery. One statement at the beginning of the book caused some dissonance with the ending. Still, it was a page turner.

This is my real-life book club‘s pick for this month. This historical mystery isn‘t one that I would have normally picked up but it‘s a fast-paced read from a unique perspective in the early 1900s New York City. I‘m looking forward to discussing it this weekend and seeing what everyone else thought! #AudioColoring

I headed back to my comfort genre with this one. The difference being that the protagonist is usually middle to upper class. This one, she is a servant. New York around the turn of the century always fascinates me. I loves the setting, the mystery and the characters. I have already dives into book 2. #historicalfiction #historicalmystery #read #scribd #audiobook

Something about the title caught my eye at the library and I picked it up. So glad I did! I generally don‘t gravitate toward mysteries but found myself thinking about this book and trying to solve the mystery during my workday. The historical setting also provided new information I found really interesting: anarchists? Coal mining? The robber barons? Sign me up! I will definitely be following this author to see what else she delivers.

KateFulfordAuthor If you need another recommendation, may I point you to my People‘s Book Prize nominated debut? Sassy female narrative, laugh out dialogue and a pacy plot. Check the link in the bio for 2 free chapters, reviews and more. 7y

My hubs is beginning to look askance at the piles of books slowly taking over our home, and yet I cannot resist grabbing up new books from the library. I see a Night of Little Sleep ahead.

Though I'm a mere 31 pages into this book, I can already say I'm loving it! From the writing style to the characters' interactions, I'm finding myself wanting to read more! Fredericks even ends chapters on cliffhangers. I haven't read a book that has done that in years. So far, so good!

Need a nice, quick murder mystery with good historical details, a bit of blood, and really pretty dresses? This fit the bill for me quite nicely, and I look forward to finding other books by this author. A nice ending that wasn‘t too tidy, either. Very satisfying.

A gripping historical mystery that will transport you to 1910 New York City! I loved this mystery, from the main character of Jane, to the setting, and the plot. The mystery was compelling and intriguing, and kept me guessing. I voluntarily reviewed an eARC copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

Grabbed this off the ARC stack at Bookshop; was specifically looking for an eye-catching cover by a female author. Looking forward to reading something outside my usual genres!
