“Charlie Roberts” is a previously unpublished Shirley Jackson domestic suspense story recently published in “Strand Magazine.” A very short reflection of the undertones of married life in which she, as the editor writes “says more in the spaces between, in the unarticulated.” Excellent prose from Jackson, as always, in a form that would now be called flash fiction. #story #domesticsuspense #horrorauthors #scarathalon22 #TeamSlaughter

Does anyone here subscribe to this? Is it worth it, what do you enjoy about it or don't like about it?
"The Strand Mystery Magazine: Publishes short stories and book reviews, from mysteries and literary fiction to unpublished works."

wanderinglynn I do not, but I‘m totally intrigued. Sounds interesting. 5y
TheHeartlandBookFairy @wanderinglynn that was my thought as well! But I'd love to hear from someone who is actually subscribed before I commit 😁😅 5y

Introducing my Dutch friend and his family to #TheStrand. They aren't readers, but @BookBabe and I got them a few books anyway. Hopefully the books begin a reading habit. 😁👍🏻👍🏻 They said the Netherlands doesn't have a bookstore that comes close to rivaling The Strand in size! #NYC

BookishMarginalia That looks lovely! 6y

TEArificbooks Anyone else think they should have shopping carts? 6y
Amiable It's not as large as The Strand, but Boekhandel Dominicanen in Maastricht is a breathtaking bookstore--it's built inside a 13th-century cathedral! A must-visit if you go to the Netherlands. 6y

I had to buy a crime fiction magazine at the thrift store so I'd be over the minimum spend threshold so I could use a coupon that'd let me get both the magazine and a new (to me) bedsheet for $4. It was a real hardship.
